Stealth FUTR owners builds and pics

Yeah, I'm going with hydraulic ones. I'm now trying to decide if I should go with Magura MT5 or up the cost more than double for the Hopetech 3 v4

Lever travel on maguras is quite high,

Rix wtf mechanical, iv no words

I can vouch for the Hope 3 v4 brakes. They replaced much heavier hope mono 6 ti and I can't say I really miss those mono 6 ti.

What about suspension? I'm gonna buy from Vector the DNM usd-8 but should I get the air version or coil?

I haven't tried the DNM air, only coil. I like it. But the advantage of an air fork is you can add or bleed PSI for proper setting vs changing spring rates which isn't hard, but more involved than fuqing with PSI settings.

Hi quality video of the Alpha courtesy of Stealth's Cameraman Angus. Cross posted on the Stealth thread.

What a cracker, that vid is definitely a keeper. That's some gnarly terrain.
I see you're also using your movie / porn star stage name, Rixx :p

I need to get some local buddies to come riding with me so I can get into making some proper vids. I've been playing with my new mavic pro drone but the active track and follow me modes don't quite cut it for ebike trail riding. Probably out in that sort of stuff when you're in wide open spaces it'd be fine. But around here where there's a million trees it's a recipe for expensive repairs.

Yah, Drones and trees don't mix worth a shit. The problem with making vids, is having enough time to edit the footage.

Yah! that could work, maybe in Rixxx as in triple X rated. Hamsters not included.

True dat! I've got 500gb of footage I've yet to find time to edit. I've done a few drone shots but even up high clear of the trees it can't keep up at high speed so it's more just cruising about or what you'd probably use as 'establishing shots' . Once I can wrangle some stunt riders I'll be able to do some cool shiz. Hyena Jr's riding skills are progressing nicely and he's now maxed out and come xmas I'll upgrade him from the 1500w moto to a converted 110cc or similar small dirt bike running around 5000w, albeit turned down to around 3kw or so until he gets the feel for the extra power.

Speaking of not having time to edit, here's a quicky of some uncut helmet cam footage from some super tight single track. The 10+kw alpha isn't really at home on this sort of stuff but it was still a blast. Sections of this trail were so tight between trees on both sides I was skimming bark with both bar ends as I boosted on through. I ride alot of this sort of stuff so run the narrowest possible bars and even then it's crazy tight.

Alternatively, move over Vin Diesel, the xXx program has a new action sports ass kicker :p

Nice vid. That was some tight tree riding Jay, barely clearance for the bars. not utilizing 10kw of power there.

It has been a while but I can now say that my setup with dnp freewheel and road bike cranks is a winner. Not one chain drop while pushing very hard through rough sections. Please excuse the bodgey looking wood chain guide but it really works very well. I'm thinking some black paint will make it look presentable. Mission accomplished

Excellent video Rix, and Hyena, loving the classic tunes too ;)

My bikes been out of action for a bit as I have a loose back brake rotor, didn't get around to putting in longer bolts, and have eaten up the aluminium threads a bit so have a new side cover on the way and just ordered some new longer bolts. Also been busy getting "Lash ebikes" off the ground for local builds and kits for people around bendigo. Should be exciting and the fun has already begun! Probably should pop an entry in the sales area.

Anyway, looking forward to getting a Beta up and running and having some demo rides for locals. These ebikes are too much fun to keep all to ourselves.

So keen to get back out on the trails. I might fire up the ol 29er 1000w DD hardtail this weekend and see what trouble I can get into around the traps.

I love the builds in here, what beautiful frames. Perhaps one day I'll take on the challenge of my first ebike build... Can't be THAT hard right?

Haha I've just finished my big service - upgrade. I already have a flux beta ebike for almost a year so I've decided to upgrade my battery pack from 1kWh to 2kWh, to install a Mxus motor 3k (wow about the results) and to install the new DNM USD6 front suspension I've received for free because the first one was loosing air every day (this is really smooth and nice compare to the previous version). Believe me it's not that hard if you read a lot BUT it takes soooo many hours to do everything properly, nice and to be safe. I will post some pictures the next weeks.
I am leaving to Greece for holidays.

Got my Alpha frame, you can expect a few questions

Anyways, will I need some form of torque arm here for mounting my QS 205 motor? It's already laced in MC wheel

No you wont need a torque arm, those dropouts are tough and there is not axle rotation. Thats an older Alpha swingarm, as the drop out is horizontal instead of vertical. They work either way.

If you are really sharp with building mountainbikes, and you know ebike controller and battery construction/setups, should be a breeze for you. But if you have not knowledge of either, well, it aint as easy as it looks. BTW, welcome to the thread.

Now thats innovation, even though I like to emphasize the form, Function over form is always priority :!:

Just wanted to correct an error in information I put out in the past. If anyone orders a Fox Shock for their FUTRs, the valve specs are C368, not C168 like I had previously posted. I pulled my shock off to check for bushing play and noticed I was incorrect. Also, the spring rates for the Alpha and Beta are not the same. I have found for a 225 pound rider or about 100kg, a 550# spring is ideal on the Alpha, where as 700# pound spring on the Beta is needed, and still just a hair softer than what a 550# spring on the Alpha is. For those running an airshock on the Beta. 262 PSI is what I have found to be ideal for my weight.

Here are some crappy cell phone pics of my ride last week. The lake is located in central Idaho and at 5100 feet. There is a marina called "Mile High Marina". Pops is a couple of the photos. 71 years old and still ripping. Cross posted on Stealth thread.

Nice one, Pops rockin the comfy seat! This should be a timely reminder for all of us who still have the opportunity to get out for a ride with our dads. Mine has already exceeded the life expectancy the cardiologists gave him after his heart operation so this is something I need to get onto pronto! If you don't already have 2 ebikes, tell ya missus this is the reason you need a second one :p

Rix you need to get a new phone to better capture that nice scenery!

Yep! This is the truth. My dad had a open hear surgery back in 2010, 5 bypasses. Hopefully he has another 10 years of riding in him. All I know is, however long he is riding, he will be commandeering the Bomber from me. Ironically out of all the ebikes I have had over the years, my dads second favorite is the Beta with the kit you and I put together at the log cabin hotel in Yosemite back in May 2013. The only reason my dad chooses the Bomber over the Beta is because of the Vboxx. He won't give it up.

Yah, I do. I still have an old Casio gshock flip phone. It replaced my other flip phone which was a bigger POS with a 1 mega pixel camera.

Mind is kinda past pedaling now, atleast to the extent that he'd need to worry about picking the right gears etc. Technical offroading is also out so it's gotta be plush as possible and pretty much just fire trails (he's got a bad back and neck from car and motorcycle accidents over the years so can't take anything rough)

He's still casually riding my old diamond back with magic pie motor that I build probably 7 years ago. It was definitely before I got sick because I remember riding it before building my fighter. The original lipo pack has finally died so I'm tossing up whether to build him a new one or ditch the whole bike and build him a beta. Obviously that's a pricey option so I'd need to weigh up how much he'll actually ride it. I guess I'll just have to lob around more often and say "hey, ride time, saddle up" :)

Jesus man, you need to donate that thing to a museum. Do we need to start a 'buy Rix a new phone to he can take better pics of his FUTR builds' campaign ? :p
