I would like to better understand several aspects of the TSDZ2 OSF Assist Types (based on documentation available):

1. What is the difference between Power Assist and Torque Assist? From the documentation, it looks like Power Assist merely extends the assist to 120rpm instead of stopping at 90rpm.

2. Is Hybrid Assist really torque assist extended to 120rpm?

3. Looks like the percentage of assist is double the number in the table. So if the table says 50 boost for level 1, it is an increase of 100%

4. Why are the boost levels different between Power and Torque Assist?

Bottom line - it would be great if there was documentation for the simpler of us folks.

1. What is the difference between Power Assist and Torque Assist? From the documentation, it looks like Power Assist merely extends the assist to 120rpm instead of stopping at 90rpm.

Power assist calculates the motor drive power as a selectable % multiple of the power the rider is delivering - calculated by using the torque sensor value and the cadence ridden at. Torque assist just uses the value of the torque sensor to calculate the motor drive power.

2. Is Hybrid Assist really torque assist extended to 120rpm?

No. Hybrid assist works out the the motor drive power by choosing whatever is higher of the calculated torque assist and power assist values. Most likely when at low cadence the torque calculation will be higher, and when at higher cadence the power will be higher. In effect it gives the benefit of both modes - power mode can be lacklustre at low cadence and torque mode can be lacklustre at high cadence.

4. Why are the boost levels different between Power and Torque Assist?

Should make sense from what I've mentioned above - they are different factors because the way of calculating motor power is different in each mode.
