I prefer to just get my replacement parts and fix myself. if the company would just give me the parts that would be the best solution.... otherwise ill hack this thing to be better than it was stock.

Im not sure if that sensor is really important in motor selection as the logic in the controller i would assume directs the sensor and motor. The motor and the sensor are not interfacing with each other directly are they?

the mod were talking about is a metal skid plate which is affixed to the rear truck and covers the moving parts. My understanding is the battery operates at 40 volts.... so 1000 watt motor.... 1000/40 = 25 amp motor?! Are the wires going to the motor 12 guage or bigger? im not sure yet...
