    DiePo4 - Can I bring a LiFePo4 cell back from 70mV?

I have the cell isolated and I'm reading voltage at the odes directly. Voltage has now dropped back down to 125mV. Perhaps it was the last of the death throes. Head for the light little buddy! Anyone have any spare 10Ah cells for sale. My cells are apporoximately 42mm in diameter and 109mm...

    DiePo4 - Can I bring a LiFePo4 cell back from 70mV?

Very strange things afoot. I got the cell back home and noticed it was a bit warm. Checking the voltage I found that it went from 250mV to 2.88V during the transit home. Continuing to trickle at 100mA . . .

    DiePo4 - Can I bring a LiFePo4 cell back from 70mV?

Yeah, I'm on that but it's like pulling teeth. The pack has a total of 5 cycles on it!

    DiePo4 - Can I bring a LiFePo4 cell back from 70mV?

Took off on my bike this morning and hit the cutout voltage about a 1/2 mile into the commute. I took apart my Golden Motor 36V 10Ah LiFePo4 pack and found a dead cell, well 70mV, dead enough. The pack seemed to charge and balance ok last night via the supplied balance charger and I do not see...

    HF Optical Tachometer

Link is right on the light/dark thing. I have one for my RC aircraft. There is a switch on it to tell the system how many prop blades your engine has (2, 3, or 4), so it can divide the RPM reading accordingly.

    Welding, machining, custom parts?

Building accouterments is a huge chunk of the fun! Fortunately, I have access to a bridgeport and a lathe. I design all my parts in CAD prior to machining, a left over habit from my years in tool and die. Here are some things I'm currently running. This is the torque arm I fabricated, one for...

Hands off oscillation - what gives?

This problem showed up soon after I built, and started using an electronic cruise control for my controller. Guess I will have to put it into coast mode before surrenduring control of the handle bar, not that I make a habit out of it. Thanks for all the great feedback, it's good and thought...

Hands off oscillation - what gives?

The traction issue has merit. When I lift the front end and leave the handle bar free, the wheel spins rock steady at top RPM. I went out and rode the bike with no hands under pedal power only and there was no oscillation. I know from my RC helicopter days that when a force is applied to a...

Hands off oscillation - what gives?

An imbalanced wheel seems quite plausible. Perhaps I threw the baby out with the bathwater! I had a shop work on truing the wheel after I received it because it had a bad hop. This was not fully worked out due to some poor manufacturing.

Hands off oscillation - what gives?

It's a pretty tight ship. A 13 pound NiMH pack is strapped to solid 4 point rack just above the rear tire. With your hands on the bar, it tracks nice and true.

Hands off oscillation - what gives?

With my brushless front hub motor locked into a constant speed, be it fast or slow, the front wheel will start an oscillation when both hands are removed from the handle bar. The torque creating this oscillation cannot be felt in the bar at any time during normal riding conditions. This happens...

    eZip and Watts Up

The Owners Manual contains complete electrical schematics, starting on page 43, for the several versions that are produced. Use the Watts Up connection diagrams to ensure proper operation. I prefer the three wire connection. Make sure your positive connection is switched, so the meter is only...

    soldering on to D-cells possible?

I turned up a special hammer head tip (see the post above) for my Weller WES50 soldering station to solder F size (D on steroids) NiMH cells end to end. It worked really well and I am happy with the results. My iron was set to around 780 degrees F. The tip, being made from uncoated copper, would...

    Goldenmotor Throttle stuck always ON

Those stock connectors are quite poor, I replaced all mine. Take another look at the contacts in your throttle harness connector and assure they are straight. Sounds like the signal pin is somehow touching the supply contact. Since all was well prior to the flat and disassembly, it is quite...

    DIY Electronic Cruise Control

On my brushless control, the throttle is fairly linear in relationship to the RPM output, as it well should be. I find that during my commute, I set max throttle and pedal briskly to minimize output amperage, as read from my Watt's Up meter. This is done partly for fitness and partly for...
