Did you end up sorting this out? If you're using a Mac without the brakes I'm pretty sure that this single white wire needs to be connected to it's mate.

Well I received the Hobbywing Xerun 150A ESC just before Christmas and have so far been blown away by it's performance. No sync issues whatsoever and incredible low speed torque and great top speed. I have left the timing on the default setting of 15 degrees but there are 8 options so I will try...

That's what I have it set at now and the rate of rise is damn near perfect. The Arduino is reading 20 throttle values then calculating an average to send to the ESC which has tamed the throttle response nicely. I think it's more the nature of the drive system rather than the ESC that's causing...
