How does Grin stay in business?

Regarding tariffs.. I purchased some electronic parts last week and there was an additional line when purchasing right after tax that had the tarriffs. It's a pain since unlike tax, it's hard to know what the rate is before you get to the point of paying and different items had different rates...

Spring seat suspension bouncing - is elastomer better?

Long time (~10Kmi) on LT and that's not even remotely an issue, the direction of travel is ideal for me

    26' x 4' tyres

Yeah, it is. Oh well. I might try FBF's on both front and back if it comes to it. I bought a replacement set a year or so ago I haven't used yet and have around 3000mi on this set. They're good for now and I might push them to 4Kmi since they don't look like they're bringing them back...

    26' x 4' tyres

Oh I have. I've got an MTB that while admittedly doesn't get much time today, got a ton in the past. I've got a industrial shop for my non-bicycle related business that I open to folks with bikes since I've got a lots of tools, stands, wrenching experience, etc. I try to encourage them to do...

    26' x 4' tyres

I've been running the FBF/FBR's but I don't think you can find FBR's anymore. Contrary to opinion, fat bike tires do not necessarily handle poorly on pavement - this is a fallacy! The FBR/FBF's are very impressive. Tire technology has come a very long way. Easy to lean greater than 45° on...

Small camera on full face motorcycle helmet

I was given a couple of gopros. With handle bar mount they work fine and with all the other clutter on my bars, nobody ever notices the camera so not likely to cause concerns. FWIW I don't like people taking pictures or videos that clearly show my face (or other obvious identifiable features)...

E-bike fires - the data, the recording and the incoming risk of closure to reputable shops/brands

Seems to me comparing the battery requirements of boats vs. bikes is like comparing apples to cows. Size and weight are far more precious on the bikes...

Boric Acid + Oil = The slipperiest hardest bearing surface ever. Easily? Experimentation Reqd.

I dunno... takes me about one minute to lube the chain... let's say I do it every 100mi... naw let's say every 50mi... so 1000mi ~20minutes... easy peasy, no muss no fuss, no tools/equipment short of a paper towel and the oil dripper (or spray can)...

    26 x 4 fat tyre

I ride in deep loose stuff from gravel washes to sugar sand... just doesn't work with 2" tires at 65psi (I'm typically closer to 10psi)... on soft terrain the rolling resistance is not any worse (and at times likely better) on the wide tires. And the good wide tires still handle quite well on...

Ultimate puncture proof bike tires? testing Kenda K-shield and K-shield Plus

Used slime many years ago and at least in my experience in the land of pointy things far more hit and miss than the tubeless sealants.... even in thick moto tires/tubes... Don't recommend it and neither do the LBS's here...

Boric Acid + Oil = The slipperiest hardest bearing surface ever. Easily? Experimentation Reqd.

I'm more of the attitude with chains is to use whatever oil you have on hand that's easiest to grab and apply since in my experience... frequent lubrication is the most important factor (by far) and any little obstacle can too often be an impediment to doing it... maybe I'm just the only lazy...

Ultimate puncture proof bike tires? testing Kenda K-shield and K-shield Plus

I'd be interested in others that have tried both. My one anecdotal experience with the flat-out isn't terribly relevant but it soured me anyway since I've got so much time and mileage on the stans. It's also handy that they carry stans at pretty much every LBS out here (that tells you...

Ultimate puncture proof bike tires? testing Kenda K-shield and K-shield Plus

The tire isn't anything special, 120tpi Maxxis Minion FBR - no longer available in this size, too bad too, it's been one of the best tries from a longevity, handling and traction (hard or soft) standpoint.. Don't know the exact thickness but I've had thorns that are close to an inch long and...
