Bafang BBSxx - fault finding and fixes

Whoops! Check that... GBK did send the order and now I have a tracking #. Apologies for the mix-up; I didn't see the email at first... Probably should have ordered a spare bearing just in case... ah well. If it gets here OK then I'll keep them in mind in the future and get it in the next...

Bafang BBSxx - fault finding and fixes

Oh, yeah and I took the opportunity to Mobilegrease 28 the whole thing. Should I have greased the clutch? I did... is this why it's a bit more viscous-feeling? I got the motor from Emax-Ebikes back in 2013. Definitely, absolutely, positively out of warranty. Still no contact from GBK...

Bafang BBSxx - fault finding and fixes

I went ahead with the Quiksteel solution (technically it was a JBWeld steel stick). It works! At least for now... I took it out for a spin last night and rode it in to work today without problem. I hadn't realised how noisy the thing had gotten! Silent as a ninja now. To true it, I...

Bafang BBSxx - fault finding and fixes

The main issue that I see with quicksteel followed by forming by setting in the bearing is that if the rotor is in the stator, the magnets tend to pull it out of true. They are quite firm, and it will be hard to get it set right and straight without them forcing the shaft out of alignment...

Bafang BBSxx - fault finding and fixes

Thanks for the tips comerades! I wasn't aware of QuikSteel; that's an interesting suggestion. Is there any resource that you can indicate for getting shim stock? I have already ordered the replacement from GBK although in retrospect maybe I should have gone with LunaCycles (I've ordered from...

Bafang BBSxx - fault finding and fixes

Hi All, My BBS01 rotor has gone clickety-clack down the worn rotor track... Several thousand km's on it (not sure how much). Unfortunately, the problem was gradually developing, and unfortunately I didn't pay enough attention when it started... yesterday I finally tore the thing down and...

What are the white Hall connectors called?

Hi All, I have a simple but vexing question. I'm trying to get my hub motor (looks like a 'cleanskin' version of an MSUX XF07) to talk to an Em3eV 25A 3077 controller. Everything plays fine, but I need a new connector. It's one of the white 6-pin array connectors that Em3eV uses for their...
