-- THE SINGLE CELL CHARGER POST --

I want to throw out a real simple line of questions, and it may be cheesy, but i just have to put this out here... forgive me if this is too junior! If one were to hook up a series of single cell chargers, say in the neighborhood of 20 to 24 units, and if those chargers were all in the 8 amp...

    Dewalt configuration help

You'll want to go parallel, if you do not intend to increase voltage. This will give the benefit of increased amp hours. So 2.3 X 4 is 9.2 AH total. You'll be able to go farther than if you only used one dewalt. Your AH consumption will depend on the efficiency of your system against the type...

    First fried mosfet experience!

Thanks everyone for the replies! This is a great place, and its the members that make it! And yes I was testing the motor phase wires, not the controller. And yes that makes a lot of sense that the motor was acting like a generator when the blown controller was hooked up. It was a strange...

    First fried mosfet experience!

Another novice question I have for folks... Is it normal to see continuity across all three main wires to the motor? I have my meter set to a 100k ohm reading and i'm getting continuity through any two phase wires that I pick. Looking at a diagram this seems like this would be normal, but I...

    First fried mosfet experience!

Well, I just experienced what it feels like when Fets fry out. I'm riding along and all of the sudden it feels like a T-shirt is wound up in the back wheel! Don't ask me how i know what THAT feels like, but it was an almost identical sensation! And the strange part... after realizing that...

    new 50amp crystalyte controller?

Yeah, I already told Justin to put me on the waiting list. I'm going to get the 50amp and the cycle analyst pre-calibrated for it. Then i can adjust the amperage back to what i can use with my batteries that i have now, and when the time comes to replace them, I can look at possibly uping the...

    new 50amp crystalyte controller?

Anyone talked to Justin lately at ebike.ca? I received an email after inquiring about their controllers. He mentioned a 50a controller coming with 4110's. Sweet! I think I'm going to hold out for this one! Cheers!

    Successful overvolting on Ananda Controller

I've been pricing some parts to upgrade the existing controller, but it's really looking like it might be too much money to do it. I priced the IRFB4110 part alone at digikey and it would cost almost 37 bucks for 6 of these. That's not including shipping, plus i'd still need need replacement...

    Successful overvolting on Ananda Controller

Oh and a technical note that I forgot to mention: This morning I checked the voltage level after the batteries charged all night. They were sitting right at 50 volts. So it looks like I lucked out. If I'd crossed that 52 volt mark, who knows! It could have turned nasty! This was without a load...

    Successful overvolting on Ananda Controller

Wow! That was awesome information. I feel like Neo... "I know Kung Fu." It's going to take me a bit to process all this great information. I know to the seasoned EE this is not a big deal, and I understand in concept what everyone has said here, it's just a matter of the discipline. Am I ready...
