New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

I've done about 2000 km and so far, no issues. No problems with the nylon gear; no play in the crank arms; no funny noises or loss of power. Drive details: 350w/48v model with the small LCD + throttle. Mostly keep the power at level 2 (Touring), but I push to level 4 a couple of times each trip...

New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

I'm coming up to the 1000km mark with my cruzbike quest recumbent, and no issues to report. The drive does make a quiet whirl when I'm riding with no power, but there's no added resistance to my pedaling, or the roll of the bike. I've picked up a month ago that I should stop pedaling and coast...

New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

Just a quick update at the 450km mark. No issues (crosses fingers, touches skull) with the motor or it's performance (500w version, coupled with a 10A 48v battery). Seems to easily handle 40km round trips set to level 2 'Touring mode', with the occasional temp bump to lvl 3 or 4 if I hit a...

New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

Hi AWD - I like the suggestion... 'will try and implement something. It's strange: I haven't noticed any movement in the drive motor so far, have probably put in around 200km, give or take. Still, better safe than on fire by the side of the road, I always say. Speaking of safety: Managed to...

Has anyone ever blown a IGH hub?

Doh. I've just ordered some 155's and 494s via Ebay. It's the thought that counts though - thanks Papa.

Has anyone ever blown a IGH hub?

Thanks Amber and Chalo. : ) The Australian Distributor for SRAM (Monza Imports) hasn't replied to my enquiry for parts. I'll investigate Brompton. A knowledgeable local guy also suggested I consider some Sturmey-Archer parts, specifically HMW494 or HMW155...

Has anyone ever blown a IGH hub?

I command thee thread - riiiiise! I'm running a secondhand Cruzbike quest 451 with a Tongsheng 500w mid-drive. Bike has 20" wheels and a SRAM Dual drive 2, that appears have a textured washer where I'd expect something with a lug. The wheels where rebuilt before the bike came my way, so I'm...

    Sounds like a nightmare. Yeesh.

New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

Hi Daytriker, I get no pedal resistance when the power is off. I have pretty low tolerances for pedal resistance having bounced off e-bikes 5-10 years ago for that reason. There's wheel resistance if you spin the wheel in reverse, but I think that's expected(?) Itchyfoot42, thanks for the tip...

New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

A few more photos, and one last observation. When lightly pedaling at very slow speeds (i.e. negotiating/navigating with foot traffic), there's a slight 'rumble' in the motor that you feel in your feet (transmitted via the crank arms, presumably). Is it strange that I kinda like it? I'm hoping...

New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

Thanks AWD, I’ll take your advice on the rubber to separate the motor housing from the bikes MBB. I found a spec sheet for the SRAM dual drive 3, which appears to have a lot in common with my drive. The diagram indicates that there are two washer types that can be used. One of them is the type...

New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

Hi Raised, it's pretty great. The design is really good for long distances (not that I've ridden many), you get a lot of distance for your pedal. The model I have has 20" wheels, so its not all free rolling though. ; ) Interesting thing about the motor placement: the metal mold of the casing...

New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

It turns out nothing was broken. Somehow the rectangular connector between the battery cable and everything else became disconnected. Picked up the error this morning and saved myself a trip back to the bike shop. :) Pictures (And numbers). It's the Solarbike rebranded 48v 500w version. I...

New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

Hey Amber, In that scenario, would the battery still appear to charge as normal (which it did) ?

New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

So, this is one of those good news, bad news, good news, bad news stories. The bad news is the bike isn’t currently working. The good news is that earlier, it did work, and was awesome. The bad news is I suspect it doesn’t currently work, because the front wheel wasn’t secure, slipped from the...
