    A recumbent build

Small fanny pack, preferably worn on your hip. Sure, it looks dorky, but your cell phone and essentials will always be safe and at hand no matter what you’re wearing. I’ve ridden recumbents across the US twice this way without trouble. Before I started using them I did drop my phone. Twice.

Building the Blue Goose bent trike

I'm considering a similar build for one of our Kettwiesel delta trikes, and debating whether to go with a 42-tooth chainring or a 50-tooth chainring. Got any insights based on how yours climbs with the a 42? (I wouldn't mind having a slightly higher top-end speed, but don't really need it and...

Sempu BB + cycle analyst assist not working well

Thanks - that would be me! I installed that sensor on my Giro 26 recumbent (with CA3, Grinfineon 20 amp controller, and Bafang Mini 310 motor.) I noticed that the readings for the right pedal varied enormously with pedal pressure but with similar pedal pressure the reading for the left pedal...

10s bms without balancing or sensing?

Thanks. Sounds like the Grinfineon and CA3 I've planned to use (and a fuse) should do the trick. Charlie

10s bms without balancing or sensing?

I'm re-purposing a Bionx 10s6p pack without balance taps. All I really need is low voltage cutoff and max amp control. Can I run typical 10s BMSs without sensing/balancing wires connected at all, or do I need a board made without them? (Will letting the sense pins float cause problems?)...

Which Bafang Mini to replace my Bionx PL350?

My 36v Bionx battery was recently repacked but the bearings on my Bionx I2C PL350 motor are shot. (Arguably, so is Bionx.) Justin suggested the Bafang Mini G310 as a replacement and it looks like an excellent choice. I'm having trouble choosing the right winding for me. I've been spending...

Reusing a Bionx battery (and fooling it into turning on - and staying on)

It looks like my Bionx motor might be history. I'd love to reuse my recently-repacked 36v Bionx I2C battery pack in a more open system. I can wake the battery by shorting pins 3 and A1 here http://www.pedelecforum.de/forum/index.php?attachments/bionx-bat-socket-png.40472/ but that's not...

    Really weird Bionx noise

I've had play in those bearings for years. I even swapped from Avid BB7s to TRP Spykes for a little extra rotor clearance. There's certainly a chance that they've just degraded further. The glued-on covers were an easy thing at the time... Charlie

    Really weird Bionx noise

Does it happen with motor system power shut off completely? Or only when the motor system is operating as pedal-assist? On or off. Sounds like the chain is just in a position to hit something when it happens to be in that gear, though why it happens only twice per revolution I can't imagine...

    Really weird Bionx noise

My PL350 has served reasonably well for over 11,000 miles, but now it makes a loud, obnoxious clanking noise twice per revolution - but only when pedaling under load in one of the middle cogs. "TaPOCKita TaPOCKita", like a really old internal combustion engine. The chain is new. I've tried...

    Bachetta Giro 20 E-Bike - My First

If you choose to add the Easy Reacher rack - a beautiful thing - you can use existing threaded holes and a little creativity to mount your battery offset to the port side but within the rack, leaving both sides available for panniers. Gives you a little more stealth and an even lower center of...

    BionX Codes

The older Bionx systems could be tweaked directly by entering codes directly on the console. The newer ones have less flexibility on that score. Your dealer can tweak many of those settings using dealer-only software and a dedicated hardware interface. Maximum speeds above the limit set by...

    New Bionx 500D install

If you're concerned about stealth, some wheel covers will get you there. (Covering your battery -- or at least the decals -- wouldn't hurt either.) Just be sure to give the wheel covers good sized "access" holes for filling your tire with air (actually, allowing cooling air to circulate inside...

Thought about bringing my ebike down to MD for a week...NOPE

Consider waiting until October? Maryland e-bike law changes as of that date. Of course, although the newly-defined "electric bicycle" classification will no longer require insurance and titling, it is limited to bicycles with a motor rating of 500 watts or less and a speed of 20mph on a level...

    Falco e-Motors

I have found those codes to work well on my older Bionx I2C PL-350. Fair warning, Bionx asserts that any firmware changes void their warranty. So you can do it, but at some economic risk. It is possible to remove speed limits and do other interesting things to the newer Canbus Bionx systems...
