You got it....like i said before i did this so that everyone can build a pulse width control welder and like my grandpa always said "Every difficult problem is easy when solved" :D . I am busy with a small solid state circuit that you guys can connect to your SCR's to turn them off so keep an...

That is the problem Terramir, because one guys cap did not test right and one guys cap blew up at 17,5 volt does not mean that all the caps will do that. Also just because one guy said that you have discharge the cap to 63.2% of the charge voltage ....let,s see so some people discharge the caps...

It is a 3 farad Volfenhag cap. I have to open my welder to get the model. Here is a link on ebay (its not the same as mine but more or less the same specs) that has an ESR of 0.00195 and an operating voltage of 16 to 23 volt. It is hard to tell if the voltage gets clamped by the electronic...

Terramir, you are busy offending me here and I don't like it but I will answer a couple of your offending questions. You were asking questions in this forum a while ago and now suddenly you are the GURU......mmm very strange.....anyway, I am an electronic engineer and to build a "very accurate"...

Terramir, I have a Capacitor tester for my caps and this cap measures 2.97 Farad. I also look at the discharge times with an oscilloscope and I can calculate the exact size of the cap. This cap is rated 20 volt and have a surge of 24volt. At 20 volt It has a current leak of about 3 amps but it...

I'm reading through the posts and it seems like you guys haven't even build one pulse width control welder yet and you are already talking about 20 Farad capacitors...I don't understand why you guys want to go that big?....Going that big will not increase the current(heat) but it will increase...

I see Sunsone engineering has a new welder with a digital display(copying me :D ) and they are displaying the voltage as Watt Seconds and the time of the weld as Joule. WS and Joule is the same thing. I decided to change mine http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yabesdeGKJo to Ws and Joule too. I'm...

I used the case of an old plasma cutter and changed it by cutting holes for the LCD screen the power transistors and the potentiometers. My welder puts out 60Ws more than the $5400 welder of Sunstone engineering(http://sunstoneengineering.com) and can do anything that their welders can do +...

Hi Guys, I just finished my microprocessor controlled 600Ws Capacitor spot welder with Pulse Width control...check it out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yabesdeGKJo Nemo, you are blowing your mosfets because these capacitor welders can pull up to 10 000 amps at 20v for a Millisecond or less...
