I confirmed this by doing a continuity test on the battery back, first two wires are power, the last 3 are the phase wires going to the motor. Also took a look at the esc, here are a few pictures. The esc looks decent, traces are large and soldering is pretty good, as usual with chinese imports...

actually there are 5 pinouts at the top and then 3 more at the bottom. Seems to me some of the pins are just used to send signals from controller to the motor and to power the controller itself. I would guess the bottom 3 pins are where the output to the motor is.
