kWeld - "Next level" DIY battery spot welder

I have recieved a kWeld, kCap and kSupply yesterday, and am able to successfully weld 0.15mm nickel with it (that's another Sunkko on its way to the big workshop in the sky) I have set the output voltage of the kSupply to 8.1V without anything connected as described in the manual, and when I...

KT motor controllers -- Flexible OpenSource firmware for BMSBattery S/Kunteng KT motor controllers (0.25kW up to 5kW)

Hardly, and I think it's an unreasonable leap to make that assumption from my post. I've run into an issue that I couldn't find a previous example of when searching the thread, so I posted basic information about my setup to see if anyone could point me in the direction of where to look...

KT motor controllers -- Flexible OpenSource firmware for BMSBattery S/Kunteng KT motor controllers (0.25kW up to 5kW)

I have an S06S flashed with this firmware, and when I turn on the kit, the motor starts going at a moderate speed and doesn't stop until it's turned off again. I have attached the settings file that I'm using. The attached hardware is: KT-LCD1 PAS Sensor Q100H Motor The display works...

[Help Requested] Reverse-Engineering an undocumented conversion kit

Per my previous comment: Some incorrect P1 values there's not much difference at no load, but it's much more noticeable once you start actually riding. I did a test with my Q100H; the correct value is 202, top speed ~24mph. Values of 255 and 150 didn't make much difference with no load...

[Help Requested] Reverse-Engineering an undocumented conversion kit

It's more than simply detecting problems, because as I've said previously if it's set wrong the motor will not run correctly even at no load. I can upload a video demonstrating this if anyone is interested.

[Help Requested] Reverse-Engineering an undocumented conversion kit

In that case I have no explanation for why the KT controllers require the P1 value to run properly, but I know from experience that they do.

[Help Requested] Reverse-Engineering an undocumented conversion kit

Yes, and yes. I'd also like to know more about the mystery controller as I can't find mention of it, or anything like it, anywhere. But that's just curiosity rather than actually trying to get things working. I also have a Q100H with a KT S06S and LCD3. I bought the S06S first when the...

[Help Requested] Reverse-Engineering an undocumented conversion kit

I count 55/56 times it goes to 0, so 110/112 total changes. 110/5 = 22, 112/4 = 28. Seeing as the P1 setting is the product of the number of magnets & the gear ratio, the individual numbers don't matter. Is the number I counted the same thing, and I just use that number directly? I can't...

[Help Requested] Reverse-Engineering an undocumented conversion kit

It'll be much quicker & easier for me to wire in a pullup resistor than to connect it all back up to the controller at this point, but thanks for the warning.

[Help Requested] Reverse-Engineering an undocumented conversion kit

I've asked various people with more experience than me in dealing with mechanical stuff and no-one's been able to figure a non-destructive way to open it - If there's a screwthread in there anywhere it's either jammed tight from years of abuse, or deliberately sealed somehow. The motor has...

[Help Requested] Reverse-Engineering an undocumented conversion kit

The P1 value on KT controllers is the number of permanent magnets in the motor times the reduction ratio of it's internal gears. It's used to synchronise the controller with the motor's rotation, and having it set wrong causes reduced efficiency, torque & top speed, and excess noise from the...

[Help Requested] Reverse-Engineering an undocumented conversion kit

Given that it's only the P1 value for the timing that I don't know I assume it should work OK in sensorless mode, though at a reduced efficiency than if I could get the timings correct. As I write this, I've had an idea - what if I hooked the hall sensors in the motor up to an oscilloscope and...

[Help Requested] Reverse-Engineering an undocumented conversion kit

I have an old (first generation?) OxyDrive front hub conversion kit. OxyDrive have not responded to any of my queries, and there is no longer any reference to this kit on their website. The motor is a 250W geared front hub labelled as DAPU M123 - I can find the part online, but no technical...

KT motor controllers -- Flexible OpenSource firmware for BMSBattery S/Kunteng KT motor controllers (0.25kW up to 5kW)

I've got an old S06S Controller which I want to test this firmware on. I ordered an ST-Link V2 clone from e-bay, but the labelling on the pins is different to what I see in the instructions online. The pins I have are: GND | TCK RXD | RST TXD | 3V3 5V0 | N.C. 3V3 | N.C. GND, RST, and 5V0 are...

    Concerns with BMSBattery's Security

I'm in need of some new parts for my bike, primarily a battery as it's several years old now. After some hunting around I found all the bits I need on BMSBattery.Com and signed up to place an order, but quickly had second thoughts when they e-mailed me the password I'd just set online in plain...
