Dave's 80:1 RC mid drive kit build log

Don't mistake making the items vs the making machinery for others to make the items. These guys are making machinery and even though they have no tool wear, they likely burn through chemicals just as quickly. Different? Yes Cost effective? Maybe, shall see.

Townie bicycle is getting too many compliments - Uglify

Some of the best "ugly" bikes are by design. Around here, there's a million Google bikes (aka clown bikes) sitting everywhere not locked and free for the taking.

    Re locking my bike battery

I've been building aluminum box panniers that will be lockable via BluetoothLE and app on iPhone. The battery pack will be mounted and riveted at the bottom of the pannier in it's own box. I designed it this way so that the pannier box would serve as one big heatsink and the $700 Luna battery...

Matt, it's not that the Astros are incorrectly wound or give off bad signals. It is the plain fact motors and controllers are very basic such that any controller cannot discern/differentiate the signals from one motor vs another. Ever seen a controller that allows multiple simultaneous settings...

Dave, It's been a month and I've been waiting on updates on the NTCE ISIS. Also, do you have dimensions on the total width of both the 3k and 6k versions? Does the 6k version still fit within/inside the cranks? Thanks!

Defeating this one is easy. The bad guys can just use what they're likely already carrying- pliers or a clipper. A quick squash or cut and this thing would be disabled. I'll take mine hidden.

Lightrush, Thanks for the updates! I too am going to do a Tangent PAS. I've a few questions for you: I've been looking at the 136mm spindle Thun and have been unsure if that'd work even though it's longer on one side. Which Thun did you use? Is that gear sensor doing anything for you? I need...

Any news on Tangent & Pedal Assist (PAS) that anyone could share?

I'm lost. How would one do what you're speaking of? Got a diagram or something?

Dave's 80:1 RC mid drive kit build log

I took the time to contact a NCTE rep and here's what I found out: - they are the OEM for Thun - the shafts are hollow (not sure if this impacts durability in our use case) - they do not offer spare parts so if you blow the bearings, it's off to buy another whole unit - they have done a one-off...

INTENSE Tracer 275 with Tangent Ascent

From Tangent specs, the Ascent needs (can do) 1750w, 35a, 50v continuous. From Luna specs, that Panasonic pack delivers 1500w, 30a, 50v continuous. That would leave using one of these packs 250w and 5a short at 50v. Would using only one of these 18650b packs be detrimental in any way (i.e...

Dave, To help us with gearing properly, do you have a number for stock RPM or cadence at 100% throttle?

    Security

Not counting indirect protections, I've gone though what some might consider extreme measures to secure my trike. 1. Physical - my setup is insanely expensive and weighs about 20lbs but has no equal (can't be jacked, picked, shimmed, bumped or non-hydraulic cut- must use sledge hammer with huge...

More volts less amps ? Im slightly confused.

Oh nice find! Pretty much everything I'd wish for in a BMS except that it's for Android only (no iPhone), and supports smallish series lengths.
