I guess you're getting the motor out of sync. Adding some hall sensors inside should help. Just my 0.02c.

Well, the LiPo (a.k.a. LiCo) are definitely cheap at HK and pack quite a punch, but their reliability and more importantly their safety is questionable. I don't want to have them go into flames in an office environment, which no matter how careful you are is still possible. And fiddling around...
