    eGator conversion to lithium

I did add a battery meter to the dash to monitor the voltage. One day I will put in a cutoff relay to prevent taking the battery too low :)

    eGator conversion to lithium

just saw your note! Actually from a wiring point of view, I changed nothing on the Gator. Just hooked up the positive and negative to the 7 module pack I assembled out of the leaf modules. The seven modules are hooked up in series using copper bus bars from the Leaf battery. I also used the Leaf...

    eGator conversion to lithium

Been 3 weeks and am very happy with the conversion. Been running on one 3.5 kw pack (7 modules) and am seriously thinking of just leaving it at that and not bothering to put in the 2nd pack I have. Charging is quick .... and for the fun of it I put a 2 module (eg 16 volt) pack in a John Deere...

Here are some photos from the Nissan Leaf Battery Pack to the installed 48 volt 7 module pack. Note on the BMS i have not installed the thermocouple for temperature readings yet.

    eGator conversion to lithium

I finally got round to converting our 2005 eGator to lithium batteries from the old lead acid ones. After reading lots of information around the 'net, here's what I decided to go with: Nissan Leaf battery modules Chargery c10325 charger (the JD charger isn't what you want to use on Lithium...

What battery to choose after your last one burned your house.

re: idea of storing battery in your oven (in house).....the problem is someone coming along and turning the oven on to 415 degrees to heat it up to cook a frozen pizza...without looking inside.

    John Deere E-Gator rebuild(Picturestory)

Bought a used 2015 Nissan Leaf battery and it's arriving Mon or Tues. 48 modules making up a 24 kw battery. planning on using 7 modules to make a nominally 48 volt battery for the gator initially. Car was driven into the shop before dismantling. Had a 2/3 charge. Thinking I'll initially play...

    John Deere E-Gator rebuild(Picturestory)

You've got me excited about going to lithium (sometime this year). If you are trying to 'age' your machine this might help 1999 Model (SN W0E4X2E001001-001705) 2000 Model (SN W0E4X2E001706-003212) 2001 Model (SN VGE4X2E010001-010274) 2002 Model (SN VGE4X2E010275-010787) 2003 Model (SN...

    John Deere E-Gator rebuild(Picturestory)

Thanks for the responses. Got my eGator in from winter storage today. The controller in mine is a Curtis PMC Sepex 1264-5403 I can only guess this is the original Deere one. My plan for batteries is to assemble (or buy) a pack out of a Nissan Leaf salvage car. The Leaf seems a better choice than...

    John Deere E-Gator rebuild(Picturestory)

Great post and photos. I have an eGator and will be replacing the batteries this spring (still waiting for the snow to melt). When you replaced yours with Li ion, did you do anything to the wiring beyond the batteries (and presumably the charger)? Is everything the same wiring wise? How do you...
