    4qd porter 100 controller

Hi, Fitted the porter controller and the difference is amazing. Loads of power, bike wheelies away! For those looking for a powerfull brush controller at a reasonable cost, it is to be recommended. Im running 48v and using the hall throttle input, works great and it takes pot throttles too...

Machinist question - How to make a hole

hi forgot to add - to drill stainless is pretty easy and rotors are a pretty soft grade. You need decent high speed drills, cheap crappy ones are no good. The trick is to drill at the slowest speed you can - you can slop some oil down the hole if you want, it will help. Should you get bored and...

Machinist question - How to make a hole

hi, You don't need anything fancy, just a drill and a few normal high speed drill bits. Mark your holes accurately, then use a centre punch to mark the hole centres so you don't slip (or apply masking take and mark on that as that stops slipping.) Now clamp your piece to a timber bench. Use a 4...

    multiple motor question

I always thought wired in series, they would act as an electrical diff, the torque would shift from the loaded motor to the unloaded one, so rather than being constantly equal, they would be permanently shifting amperage and maximum power wouldn't be available? 3 motors in a triangle would never...

    multiple motor question

hi, I have 3 off identical 24 v, 750 watt pm brush motors that I want to wire in parallel. In theory this would give each motor independence from the next but at 24 v with the 31.25 amps (750 watt) shared and split to just over 10 amps per motor according to constant load theory, if that makes...

    24v or 48v for torque?

Yes i only need max power for about a second, then you back off as you are half way over the obstacle, its the controller that gets a bashing. My gearing is at max. Rear sprocket is 92 teeth an almost covers the rear wheel. I will stick with 48 v for now.

    24v or 48v for torque?

hi, im already on 48v - reason for dropping to 24v is more torque less speed. anyway, done some rooting through the internet and found that ohms law only applies to constant load motors - so 48v at 25 amps is the same as 24v at 50 amps - BUT ONLY IF THE LOAD IS CONSTANT. So it appears this law...

    24v or 48v for torque?

hi, the original controller was limited to 25 amp , which it did easily, but the throttle signals died. it was an excellent Chinese thing that lasted ages and performed fantastic. The new one is rated at 40 amp at 48v, but is actually less powerfull in practice - despite being 10 fet etc. I...

    24v or 48v for torque?

hi, the motor is already geared down through a selectable gearbox (which in turn runs to a rear wheel again with selectable cogs), it was capable of crawling up 1in 2 hills already - please bear in mind this is not continuous long road hills as a normal request - think trials bike. The gearing...

    24v or 48v for torque?

Hi, i use by bike offroad only, very steep hills, speed or distance not required, but torque is. Presntly its 48v mid mount brush motor, 3600 rpm max, pulling max 25 amp. Due to a fault i swapped contrllers but was dissapointed at the poor power from the new one. So ive ordered a 4dq porter 10...

    no shunt controller?

hi, the controller has no functions other than power in, power out and a throttle connection. I don't have any schematics for it. should have been a simple mod job....................

    no shunt controller?

hi thanks for the reply - can you tell me what the very big fet is - next to the normal ones. there is one at each end - you can just make it out at the end in the photo. cheers j

    no shunt controller?

hi, newbie here, been reading this great site for a long time but now first post for help. I have a self made trials bike - low speed torque is more important than milage - I get 45 mins at the moment, which is ample, as I use it in the back yard. I have a 1000 watt brush motor on 48v - this is...
