The Frey HT1000 - And yes, HT stands for Hardtail! *updated*

The Rohloff is about $2000, which includes building the wheel and fitting to the frame, so it's certainly very expensive. This bike is now my primary transportation so that's how I justify the cost. I would have been happy with a 5 speed or even 3 speed IGH, but as far as I know there are no...

The Frey HT1000 - And yes, HT stands for Hardtail! *updated*

Generally the Rohloff is quiet, although there is some mechanical noise in the lower gears. Most often the motor is louder than the Rohloff. The 3 speed sturmey I use on another bike with a bbshd I’m pretty careful with, as there is occasionally some skipping and it feels like it might be easy...

The Frey HT1000 - And yes, HT stands for Hardtail! *updated*

Thanks entropic! The Rohloff is brilliant. I’ve used one on another ebike for years with no problems. You get that perfect chainline in all gears. I’m using a 48t chain wheel up front, thanks to advice from this thread, so the highest gear is very effective at high speeds—no ineffectual...

Hey guys, I thought you might like to see what I did with an HT1000 frame: Principal specs: —Bafang Ultra motor —52V 17.5aH Battery —Egg Rider V2 Display
—Rohloff 14-speed Internally Geared Hub —Lauf Grit Carbon Fiber Fork —Custom CNC-machined Chainring Spider —Cirrus Kinekt Suspension...

Thanks Sam, yup the RC4 is an excellent unit--really upgrades the bike's handling. I like the Fighter in black too--maybe I should have looked a little harder for black spokes! Also, when I re-did the wiring harness all I had was orange heat shrink, but a guess a little spot of color is ok!

Thanks SamM, yes the shock was bolt on. The correct size for the Fighter is 9.5x3.0, if I recall. I did have to file down some shims by hand so that the shock eyelets fit snugly. All in all not too difficult a job, and the performance improvement over stock is substantial.

Thanks Rick, I'm pretty happy with it! I do have a spare motor on order from Stealth because the Fighter is my daily transportation and I don't want to be off the road for a long time in case something happens to the motor that I can't repair myself. Jimboyr6: the tires/wheels are heavier...

Hey Guys, my Fighter and I are back on the road 6 weeks after I crashed due to the tire bead jumping the rim on my rear wheel while going about 30mph downhill--scary! but no major injuries. I took the opportunity to convert to motorcycle wheels and tires. Huge thanks to Rix, who tirelessly...

Hi Spitfire, I've lost a bit of weight--down to a svelte 220 now--but I've weighed as much as 270, and I've had both a Bomber and Fighter for almost 4 years. I can tell you from personal experience hat a Bomber will move a 270lb+ person down a typical road at a frightening clip--I would think at...

Thanks Rick, yeah I'm guessing the stock axle length isn't right for the Stealth bikes. Anyone know where you can get a 4080 with the proper axle length? I've emailed Stealth and will post what I find out...

Due to several motor issues (burnt out hall sensor, failed bearings etc) I'm going to build up a spare rear wheel for my 2013 Fighter. Does anyone know if an off the shelf H4080 motor such as this one... http://www.ecyclotron.com/product/crystalyte-h4080-rear-motor/ ...has the correct axle to...

Theodore and Hyena: thx for your replies. I've been riding bikes of all descriptions, including a Bomber and Fighter for almost 4 years, and I've never seen anything like this. The tire bead just jumped the rim--tube still inflated. I haven't fully examined the rim, but I don't think it cracked...

All, after a nasty crash last week (Crazy Bob tire separated from rear rim--see pic. I'm OK--no broken bones, just a bit banged up!), I'm going to join the club started by Rix and others and move to MC wheels on my Fighter. I think I'm going to go with a Holmes Hobbies 19x1.6 and use VeeRubber...
