Thanks guys for the feedback. I'll move on to other crazy ideas cause this one is too complicated and/or dangerous. I just thought I'd ask people with a lot more experience than me.
Moving on now!
Yeah my math is off but you still get the general idea. Like 6x 4S 10Ah lipo packs to get to 12S 20Ah or 24S10Ah for example. What about using a couple solenoids instead of switching wires around?
Hello everyone,
I just had an idea that would help me in my particular application and I'd like to know if it's possible to implement cause I've never come across such a setup.
Basically, on my Electric Motion trials bike, most of the riding is done on a 48V/24AH battery. This is working fine...
I'm not sure I can up the voltage all that much on my particular motor. At 72V it would be right around 6000RPM which is the rated limit. It would suck to have magnets flying out of it. I can probably do 16s or 18s when I get around to building a new battery but what I'm really after is more...
It's geared pretty low already, probably like 35 km/h top speed. So far it doesn't seem to get really hot but it's freezing outside so who knows what it'll be in the summer. I'm basically wondering if I can push 500 phase amp in that motor and still be pretty safe not to damage anything. Also...
Hi everyone,
Like the title indicates, I am looking to get more power out of my setup and am looking for advice from people with more experience than me.
Details of the setup:
Motor: Golden Motor hpm 5000B/48V/300A peak/100A continuous
Controller: Kelly KEB48601 350 Phase amps/140A continuous...
The E-ram is coming to market soon.

I expect it to be expensive much like a Vivax assist but it looks very promising.
The John Tetz system looks really good. Pretty much shows it is totally doable.
First time I come across (or pay attention to) #25 chain and sprockets. Very useful thanks Miles, proves I can learn stuff every day.
So I'd be willing to go to a 32t bike size equivalent chainring cause anymore than that sacrifies ground clearance quite a bit. About a 60t #25,that would give...
But how much would the single stage reduction weigh? Recumpence V4 drive weighs around 1800 gr I'm sure. Remember I wanna stay under 2000 grams if possible. I know most of you couldn't care less about a few pounds here and there but to me going from a 30 pound bike to a 34 pound bike makes a...
I also think it would sell like hot cake after the initial OMFG Ban all ebikes reaction that is common at the moment.
Yes that is the plan.
All I'm looking for is to double my leg power . I don't mind if I crawl up the hill at 5 mph like I usually do anyway, I just just wanna get there...
Hi Thud,
I agree I overlooked battery capacity. At 12V x 4.5ah= 54Wh i doubt that would get me to the top of my local trails. Doubling that would mean 100W for an hour of climbing so if I normally output 200W when climbing would that mean it would be twice as easy or twice as fast if I pedal...
Hi guys, I have been lurking around here for quite a number of years now and have enjoyed learning all I can about ebikes.
So my background is mountain biking. As in ride uphill for an hour, ride down for 5 min. Rinse and repeat. I love it and I have spent quite a bit of money on a high-end...
Wow another crazy project already Matt :D
Looks like your on a roll...
Cant wait to see this one too.
good luck
Max
p.s. For the most fun you should really convert a small dual suspension. BMXs tend to be sorta harsh when you get over 25
