What kind of motor do I have?

Yep, based on your test. It's definitely geared. Thank you!

What kind of motor do I have?

Interesting. When I spin it or throttle, it does sound like something kind of clicking freewheel is happening inside the hub. Hope that's a good thing. Just wondering if a direct drive would do that.

So do you think this is probably a direct drive hub? Based on the video, does the sound and performance seem normal? Thanks!

What kind of motor do I have?

Hello, I purchased a folding e-bike online and I'm enjoying it a lot. I have noticed only one possible issue is that the spinning doesn't continue in the rear-drive so much after pedaling and freewheeling. I was asked if it the rear hub is geared or direct drive. I was under the impression it's...

    Secure Braking

Ah! Now your question makes sense. I am planning on: "Same orientation, just on the other fork leg." Is that the correct way to achieve a balance? I am having a difficult time imagining: "Diagonally opposite to the existing torque arm."

Clarification: I have one torque arm and one anti-rotation washer on the disc brake side. So, I'm adding a second torque arm and anti-rotation washer to the non-disc brake side. This might keep it straightened it out when hard braking.

I agree with your concern 100%. If after adding additional components - extra torque arm and anti-rotation washer - I still have the same issue, I'll probably shelf the bike until I get a rear electric hub. I'd be better off walking than riding a dangerous bicycle.

I was considering rim brakes for simplicity, but unfortunately, my frame nor my fork has the mounts.

Yes, it usually does. But my fork eyelets got in the way of the battery. So I'm using an external 36v10Ah LiFePO4 battery + the one it came with, both carried in a rear rack bag and hooked up via 14 gauge wire and XT30 connectors.

Since I'm riding down steep hills for long periods of time, I tend to alternate my braking when I stop or slow down -- so I use a technique such as left/right/left/right in rapid succession till I slow or stop. I don't know if that's the correct way to brake but it's how I've avoided overheating...

    Secure Braking

I tried to put a 180 on the rear, but it didn't fit. I used to have a 180 in the front, but it felt too bitey and lacked modulation - at least with the regular wheel. I may revisit a 180 for this one, but for now, my primary goal is to get that balance. If I put a 180 in the front, it may...

    Secure Braking

I'll keep an eye out for a good rear hub deal but when I do that I'd like to get something that resists moisture. Here there's a morning marine layer that's equivalent to rainy conditions. The wheel alignment issue is exasperated by the ehub but was a slight problem with the regular wheel too...

Yah. They are 160 but I'm going down 10% and steeper grades for up to 5 miles distance and returning the sameway uphill. I paid a super low price for the hub because it wasn't working but I managed to fix it (bad throttle). Changing to another type of ebike hub will be a consideration in the...

    Secure Braking

Appreciate the advice, but I'd rather avoid removing lawyer lips at all costs because they are meant for safety, especially if I use my non-ebike wheel again. This fork is much more valuable than the ebike hub. If it came down to that I'm better off waiting to get a rear ebike hub or getting a...

    Secure Braking

I wonder if the torque arm is pulling it slightly to the left and that's exactly where it tends to rub after a hard brake. Should I get a second torque arm for the right side of the fork?
