Try changing a one of the phase wires round. The same goes for the halls.

    Rucksack battery advantages.

I think it can be done with those coil wires like daahub kits use. Keeping the controller on the bike and just wiring the battery (2 wires) from the battery pack to the bike. I know my bag isn't the right sort but it was avaliablemand easy and I wasn't bothered about it. I always make sure...

    Rucksack battery advantages.

Heres some pictures I took just. Not the most technical but it works. Batteries go in the main part and then I carry clothes for work etc. Batteries are foam padded though. Probably no where near as fire resistant as it could be. But for the last year its been ok.

    Rucksack battery advantages.

Jerry uses a similar method to what you after. I wanted the bike to still stay like a bike on the odd occasion I don't use the electric side of the bike. This is why I kept the battery and controller off the bike. I didn't like the rear rack as it up set the balance of the bike.

    Rucksack battery advantages.

I just used an old inner tube that I punctured and repaired. I have quite a few lying about and so thought I'd use it. Before that I just used insulation electrical tape to create a loom. The cut off is just a shorter valve that if pulled disconnects first before the main cable gets pulled...

    Rucksack battery advantages.

Cwah I just used my old reebok back pack I've had since I was 14, the bags about 13 years old. I poked a few holed in it to run cables from the battery packs in the main area. To the controller which is in one of the pockets. This then runs quite thick gauge cables and powerpoles to the bike...

    Bafang Bpm, how many RPM?

Pretty much bang on russel. The winds are the same. The stamp on the outside changes. But the kv is the same. It would be better to have rpm per volt as you've said though. But I guess it's more difficult for Joe public to perceive that as real world speed. It also doesn't give you any torque...

Why must the battery even be on the bike at all?

Hello Jerry, I used exactly the same setup with that Maplins connector. Worked for about 3 months in the rain etc and 2.2kw though it untill it eventually died. Still it was worth it for testing methods. That and as a connector it wasn't really meant to have that wattage chucked at it. I use a...

    Bafang Bpm, how many RPM?

A front wheeled setup with a high powered gear motor is just asking for trouble as you've found out. You need good solid torque arm's to avoid those problems. The rear ones are usually stronger as standard on most bikes. Sorry to see you broke it but you really needed torque arm's on this...

    Bafang BPM Marin Build

I've ran my bpm @ 66v nominal. But it's a code 12. This was in. 700c wheel. I don't use a speedo but know roughly my cadence is along the lines for 35mph+ but my gears are only 48 front 14 rear so my legs spin out before it reaches that speed. It scary so only run it at 44v for commuting. It's...

My experience bulk charging lipo with BMS 400w charger

Just wondering if the smaller 240w bulk chargers also have a pot in them if anyone else know's? I have a feeling their not but would be interested to know. Might have to buy another bulk charger for my needs as there quite a bit simpler for charging 9 lipo bricks... Just wondering as the 240w...

How many of you feel safe riding in a good rain?

In the UK through my first winter I had some issues. I connect the hub motor up though to my backpack where the batteries and controller are. I used Powerpoles and pleny of insulation tape. This worked for light showers but occasionaly got soaked. I also have no mudguards as they just annoy me...

    Hobbie or a Tool ?

A tool, commuting wise. It's not the prettiest, fastest or quietest. But it does allow mento do a 22mile round trip for pennies. So much so that I no longer use a car and it's saved me £2200 in the first year alone. So it paid for itself in 6months really. I'll continue to commute with it in...

my first build: brompton at 30 mph

Indeed Dave is correct. As the bike is steel you can find lots of local places that will be very good at making and welding new joints. This will make the bromton very strong. But you need to know what your asking. Even if your not i've always found new projects and things that are quirky...
