Newb questions about battery back construction

Thanks for the info! I should have clarified my role in the company: I only help out occasionally, and when I do I run wires between components; I don't build batteries. My day job is as a low voltage lighting specifier/installer, so I understand the ins & outs of wiring. Cheers

Newb questions about battery back construction

Hello & thanks in advance for not being too hard on me for my ignorance! I've been helping a friend of mine out with his ebike company, where I've been focussing on the electrics (I have a pretty good understanding of low voltage because of the industries I've been in) while he focuses on the...

Open source BMS for 48V to 400V lithium-ion battery pack

Hello ENNOID, I see on your site that the solid state model only allows for 10A (20A) charging; won't that also limit regenerative braking? Cheers

Open source BMS for 48V to 400V lithium-ion battery pack

@ennoid: How long until you have the 24s ready for testing, and will you be looking for beta testers? I would gladly cover the cost of parts to help out your project. For reference, most of the packs I plan on building over the next few months will be 20s5-7p, using 2170 cells. Cheers

Open source BMS for 48V to 400V lithium-ion battery pack

Do you have any plans to make a stand alone BMS that doesn't require a Penthouse? Most of my use cases will be high power e-bikes, but the Penthouse is a little bit overkill (sorry if you already touched on this, it's a long thread!). While I certainly don't mind dealing with Chinese companies...

Super cool project! Forgive my ignorance, but what additional functionality does CAN provide? I've only ever used 'dumb' BMS...

    APL's DIY axial-flux motor

I'm sure it's already been discussed elsewhere in this thread (TLDR), but are you using any motor design software or are you just going off of experience? This is an extremely interesting project!

Thanks! That looks like a pretty sweet option!

    High Voltage ESC options?

Hello! I'm looking to build an electric BMW airhead, and the hub motor that I want to use likes higher voltages (144-156). The manufacturer recommends Kelly controllers, but I was hoping to find a VESC alternative, or at least something that is programmable and user friendly. Any thoughts or...
