The Electric Next Iron Mongoose Build

The saga continues... It turns out that one of the thumb throttle is kaput, so I had to order a replacement. It arrived a couple of days ago, so I wired everything together. As I mentioned on a previous post, the only spare battery pack I have left is a rather small lithium polymer unit. It...

    Hall effect throttle problem?

Just a final follow up to my quest: the throttle is the culprit. Going through the diagnostics suggested pointed to the throttle as the problem. So a quick and inexpensive replacement throttle did the job. Thanks again, everybody. Tho

I can't quite yet...it's still in progress, but will try to get something together when I'm done.

    Hall effect throttle problem?

Thanks Olderthandirt, that makes a lot of sense, and I'll try to do some more diagnostics. Oh, I'm sure I'll get it going again. The controller is being replaced because the original one died long time ago, and I'm using the left over bits on the new project...

    Hall effect throttle problem?

Possible, not not probable... That wouldn't cause a 3 volt drop if it's just a linear hall effect chip in there...right?

    Hall effect throttle problem?

Hi y'all. It started with putting in a new controller (36v, 800w, brushed controller). Everything is wired up properly, but the motor doesn't spin. the controller has only 3 wire to the throttle, and no indicator light so I can't diagnose very well. The controller is putting out 5 volts on...

The controllers are mounted onto the wooden platform. And the some wiring cleanup with zip ties.

    mongoose cx450 Project

Duffman, you may find my current project interesting: http://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=23467 It starts out with the same Mongoose that you have. Tho

The Electric Next Iron Mongoose Build

I wired up the bike with just the front motor and rode it around for a while. Everything seems to work, handling is good. Even with just 600Watt, the bike shows some decent speed and stable handling. So back to the real construction. I decided to mount the controllers beneath the seat. Below...

The Electric Next Iron Mongoose Build

The battery space should be big enough for a decent amount of LiFePo. My plan is to get 2 packs. The throttles were put in place tonight. The original intent was to wire them to the same throttle, but after reading the various threads here about dual motors, I decided to keep them completely...

The Electric Next Iron Mongoose Build

The shorter rear shock came in today, it has black springs--perfect match. Added the motors today. Does anybody know where I can get those torque washers (the ones with the tabs) to keep the motor axles from spinning? The motors I have have only them on one side, and I'd be more comfortable...

The Electric Next Iron Mongoose Build

It's going to be a full suspension dual hub motor bike. The bike is being put together from 3 bikes. 1. Fork from an Iron Horse something or another. 2. Rear triangle from a Next bicycle 3. Front (main) frame came from a Mongoose cx24v450 electric bike. It's a little tricky, replacing a 20"...

    Wooden box II build

Working on the batteries. I have 80 sub C NiMH; combined they provide near 8 Ah of 48 Volt nominal. Shown is one of the two 48V pack. Each is made of 40 cells. To control the charging, I use a thermal switch. I borrowed that idea from one of the threads in this forum. My springer fork...

    Wooden box II build

Thanks for all the comments guys. But don't worry that I'd get myself killed. To keep things in perspective: you guys do know that I have modified and rode the exact same bike with the exact same power before, right? I rode it for a couple of years, and it was still fine before I tossed it...
