    My 1st ebike build - a folding 20" Dahon

Greetings from U.K. I was most interested to read about your Dahon folder project, having carried out exactly the same type of conversion on a 20" Dahon Mu Uno I'd had for a few years. The conversion kit was a UK-produced Swytchbike, with a motor of the same wattage as yours, but from your...

    Electrifying my Dahon Mu Uno

At lasr, at last!! My health has improved to the point that The Boss (i.e. my wife) has given me clearance to take a test ride. This is planned to happen on my birthday (I won't say which one) on November 2nd. I've not done much else to the bike since I last posted, except fit a set of...

    Electrifying my Dahon Mu Uno

Here's an update on the situation with my Mu Uno. My medical situation hasn't changed, so I'm still unable to carry out the long-awaited road test. But what I have been able to do, though, is activate the Warranty on my Swytchbike kit. This involved completing a form online, and emailing them...

    Electrifying my Dahon Mu Uno

At last! At long last!! My Mu Uno is almost ready for the road. I had no big problems fitting the Swytchbike kit, and the company were most helpful with any queries I raised, and always replied very promptly. Now all that's needed is a little bit of fine tuning, tidying up cables etc. Not...

    Electrifying my Dahon Mu Uno

Update - I've ordered the Swytchbike kit, so there will be a bit of a wait now. In the meantime, there are a few things I can set up on the bike, and still be able to ride it "unpowered". I already have a magnet ring, so I can epoxy this to the crank on the chainring side, then fit the KT-D12R...

    Electrifying my Dahon Mu Uno

Thanks guys for the advice - I'll certainly be following it! The TA's from Hammer are widely available here in UK. Bearing in mind the power of the Swytchbike motor, will I really need the 5mm ones, or will the 3mm be strong enough? I presume it's best to fit one on both sides, and OK to...

    Electrifying my Dahon Mu Uno

I thought it was about time I got up-to-date with my Mu Uno project (assuming there's still somebody out there following this thread)! I got the rebuilt 406 wheel back, and today I fitted it with a 2" Big Apple, and it looks really good on the bike. I've ordered the Swytch setup, but at the...

    Electrifying my Dahon Mu Uno

After having a new rear wheel built for the Dahon, when I tried to fit a tyre & tube on it (first, the original Schwalbe Marathon Racer, and then a Schwalbe Kojak I'd bought recently), neither tyre would fit and they just seemed to be far too small. It was then I realised my dumb mistake - the...

    Electrifying my Dahon Mu Uno

You can't see in the foto, but just above the handlebars there's a small shelf with an audio cassette player with a USB port, so I can play back tracks from my MP3 player. I also have a tablet (which I haven't used in ages), so maybe I can resurrect that, and spin through some of the Tour de...

    Electrifying my Dahon Mu Uno

While I'm waiting for a few more components for my Mu Uno, I'll digress slightly, and I'm sure the Moderators won't object. In addition to being a bike nut, I also like to keep pretty fit - I work out, and for cardio I use my Spinning Bike. It's based on a re-tired (or should that be...

    Electrifying my Dahon Mu Uno

The first view is before assembling the brake arm to the hub - you can see the 4 protrusions referred to in the Youtube vid, and just about identify where they will fit after rotating 90 degrees. The other views are after assembly to the bike.

I'm not quite sure how I did that, my PC has been misbehaving. Anyway, hope those pix posted OK. I didn't show the whole bike, there are some bits missing at the moment - no tyres or tubes (except for an old tube to protect the new rim), and no chainwheel or chain.

Thanks guys for the comments. I may get some pics done today (domestic duties permitting!)

    Electrifying my Dahon Mu Uno

So, I bit the bullet and went for it! With the knowledge gained from the Youtube vid, I removed the locknut & brake adjuster nut frrom the non-drive side (with the wheel clamped horizontally of course). The brake arm just lifted off, I rotated it 90 degrees clockwise and replaced it, with the 4...
