Up-to-date options for geared motors with metal gears?

This is much more interesting than it sounds at first. I see now there is a reason for the nylon gears. Heh, about that speed bug...that's why whatever I do, it will be dual drive, front and back motors. I considered a DD double motor setup. That would give me fast acceleration and fast top...

Up-to-date options for geared motors with metal gears?

I was on the E-bike-kit site again today, looking for geared motors. I saw they use nylon gears. The user Knuckles showed pics of some mushed up nylon gears in another thread so I know I want some darn metal gears in my motor. What are my options? In return for your help I will compile the most...

Unconventional places to stick the batteries

Props to the man for serious technical skills, but that is not stealth! I'm talking cylindrical cells throughout the entire frame, then you'd never know they're there!

Unconventional places to stick the batteries

Where are some crazy unconventional places to stick the batteries? My best idea would be: As the bike is getting manufactured, cylindrical cells are inserted into the frame. The frame is the ground, and the power wire goes out the seatpost. Good stuff there, but impossible for the average...

    Amped bikes geared motor

Thank you!!! That was an awesome suggestion, certainly alleviated my concerns about sound. I don't care that it's loud, because the cool futuristic sound makes it sound good! I'll post pics of my bike as I build it, but it'll be a few weeks while I gather money. Thanks for all the help everyone. :)

    Amped bikes geared motor

Then sound is also an issue. I don't care if it's very loud, but I really care if it sounds retarted, like the noisy grinding gearbox in my Chinese 2 stroke. Since the gears in these things are nylon or something plasticy like that, they should all be pretty quiet and sound nice and high tech...

    Amped bikes geared motor

Hmm... The AmpedBikes site cites a 4.7:1 gear ratio on their mini motors. Anyone know what it is for the BMC & MAC's? They're the same wattage but there's a lot in there that could be different, I just don't know about, and the most important thing is probably the gear ratio... I may not get...

    Amped bikes geared motor

So I had this ingenious idea (I thought I did, at least) to build a dual drive bike with GoldenMotor's mini hub motors (supposedly >250 W each) so, I'd make a stealth bike that was about 500W. I had some NiMH leftover from my last project so I was planning on making a giant bottle of batteries...

Be a part of my first Communications assignment!

Hey, 317537, we were saying in class that putting you in one discourse community doesn't stop you from being in another. So you can post on lots of subforums and be a part of multiple discourse communities. Zoot Katz, I'm putting what you said about the distinction on subsubforums and how bikes...

Hey, yaemes here. My real name is James, I'm 19 and I've been a lurker here for a few months. I asked a few questions about batteries a while ago and received such great responses that I'd like to be more of a part of the community. GoldenMotor Magic Pie.

he's right. in 1 year goldenmotor could very well overtake magic pie and they could easily get to #1 because of people here just linking to it. with goldenmotor's nature as a chinese company, they don't have great customer relations and service but when i looked at their products in arizona i...
