Our state being dotted with wildfires, I thought the subject was overdue for its own thread.
Started out small and blew up overnight, the Park Fire in Butte/Tehema Counties:

Not far from Paradise Ca. which was completely destroyed by a wildfire a few years ago. Smoke visible from space over several states.

As usual, enjoying the California and Oregon smoke here in Utah, lol

Around this time of year, i think about finally moving to Miami.

Hemet Ryan Field keeps busy supplying air support for this fire now including four helicopters and eight fixed wing aircraft.

Update 8:20pm:
Quickly has spread to over 2,700 acres and now it’s visible from space halfway between the Salton Sea and the Pacific Ocean around 30 miles south of here.

Is it getting better or worse over there?

- huffing it in Utah

C 130s regularly streaking overhead today on their way to the Nixon Fire. Augmented by helicopters shuttling water from Lake Riverside and water bombers from Hemet and Ramona Airports with an occasional jet aircraft. Now holding at around 5,000 acres and 5% containment.

Looking much better this weekend

Park Fire: 31% containment
Nixon Fire: 82% containment
Alamos Fire: 0% containment but held to only 72 acres of smoldering heavy brush. Could take a while to contain it as difficult terrain and thick cover makes it tough to completely extinguish.

Three new smaller ones today. The Papa Fire on Camp Pendleton, the Anita Fire and the Moon Fire erupted in the southwest part of the state.
At least it’s not a Santa Ana wind event.

One of the new helicopters that they just got flying over woke me up. Sounded more like a jet aircraft. Must have been a good purchase because they knocked it out in a hurry.
