Next step where to mount the str-500 ???? ... best place between the two plates

shorten the phase wires

Balance wires and

first test charge of one pack, later on both pack's can be charged in parallel

This is how it looks now ... first test in the garden was successful ... next step is to optimize the vesc settings via logs and app

of course the fuse will be replace by an appropriate one ;)

new tires and new testride last weekend

Vesc logging result (last 10 Minutes)

next step test max speed and max power (increase pAmps)

unfortunately my chain broke in the end ... hopefully this was my fault ... the axle was probably not installed straight and the chain was too tight

Nice one ! Temps are super flat, how long did you ride it and what type of riding did you do ? Did you still have some battery left afterwards ? I see that your amps went all the way up to 300A so your setup outputs roughly 28kw right ? How does it feel compared to an ICE dirtbike ?

@mgerk : What's your opinion on the STR500. Would you recommend it?. I want to do a build using two of the same batteries you are using. Is there any possible issues with the way you have the batteries mounted?.

overall 40 minutes, mix street and offroad in the woods. The battery can be used until 3.3 V per cell, a lot of energy left. It feels super smooth in comparison to an ice dirtbike ... love it ;)

i like the str500 because it is a 3in1 Device. DC to DC converter, IO functionality for controlling in-/outputs, logging and of course the vesc software

Features (from the vesc pdf)
●Voltage: 24V – 92V (Safe for 6S to 22S LiPo). Optimal performance at 20S LiIon
●Voltage spikes may not exceed 100V
●Current: Continuous 500A, peak 680A. Values depend on the temperature, switching frequency and cooling of the device!
●1x 5V 0,5A output for external electronics
●1x switchable 5V 3A output for external electronics
●5x switchable and variable 6-24V (15A combined)
●1x static output, variable 6-24V
●3.3V 0,5A output for external electronics
●9 axis IMU
●Modes: DC, BLDC, FOC (sinusoidal)
●Supported sensors: ABI, HALL, AS5047, SIN/COS and other encoders

Are these conical bolts in straight holes for the motor mounts? Those bolts are meant to go in all the way, if you can't give them enough material I'd replace them with something that's flat on the backside.

yes they are, the bolts only go half way through ... you are right of course but i don't think this will be a real problem

So 40min of moving time with a 28kw setup ? Not too bad for a small pack.
Btw I just noticed that you put some Michelin tracker, great tires and if you need more traction just use a tubliss system and lower the pressure. The casing is super tick so you can ride it at stupidly low pressure, on my smoker I usually set it up at 3psi for tech and it is great. Then 18psi for MX or fast riding days.

Some progress

correct dc switch rated for 100V

PXL_20241222_173424506.jpg

new charging ports on both sides to charge the packs in parallel

PXL_20241222_173441331.MP.jpg

PXL_20241222_173438306.jpg

Dc to Dc converter installed to get 12 V from one pack and a key to turn the bike on and off. The relais separates the two batteries so i can charge them in parallel.

PXL_20241223_125101905.jpg

Only one charger used but two are possible

And some testdrives with parameter tuning (last try) ;)
