FIXED NOW --- bad torque steer on a gen 1 leaf local Nissan dont want to help

Ok, I got the impression they where trying to brush you off but if they're still being helpful then there's no point in taking a hard line with them. The law is biased in favour of the customer where garages are concerned and garages are well aware of it, they'll often try to brush off their...

FIXED NOW --- bad torque steer on a gen 1 leaf local Nissan dont want to help

Talk to a solicitor or inform the garage that's your next step if they don't fix their mistake and if it's not too late it could be worth asking for the parts that where removed/replaced as they may offer a clue to what's happening. They legally belong to you but the garage probably wont have...

MS Windows-7 screwed me, Linux/Ubuntu discussion

Gimp can be a fairly steep learning curve, powerful but I could never got comfortable with it. Have you tried gthumb? Fairly basic compared to gimp but might have all you need and I found it easy to use right away.

    possible LTO super charger?

How about doing it on vehicle, li-ion for capacity and li-po for burst power, kinda like warp capacitors  It looks like just linking the two sets of packs together via BMS should work.

Denzel 72v 4-spd Gearbox Build 125cc Dual Sport

Just a thought on the gearchange, is the motor braking when the throttle is of or spinning freely? EDIT: Nice unit too! :) Looks like it's based on a Honda 50 gearbox and those things did more for motoring than the model T (and maybe even the VW beetle).

    Steampunk Voltmeter?

Lol, it's quite possibly being put to the same use as it was originally intended for  In the early days of motoring EVs often outsold oil burning vehicles and that meters range will be pretty close to EVs of that time.

    DIY 0-5k throttle

That would make sense, I'd stripped a couple recently and they where both hall and I'd assumed it was now the industry standard but I'm also having a sensor issue on an EFI system (megasquirt). Took ages to track down, no engine position signal while cranking, turns out the cause is noise from...

    DIY 0-5k throttle

Imo you'd be better avoiding pots, they'll last for a while but at some point they'll inevitably ware out. Throttle position sensors used to be a nightmare on cars, always giving trouble when they where resistance based. These days they're almost always done with hall sensors. They're no more...

    Affected by Tariffs?

At the end f the day it's not going to make a whole lot of difference, the main reason China is able to totally eclipse the western world in manufacturing is they have less middle men wanting a cut. We create bureaucracy, red tape in the name of creating jobs but it's all friction in the works...

Automotive spot welder as battery welder?

Yes, I have an industrial spot welder and it should be suitable, if a scooter starter relay can handle repeated doses of the amps needed then I'm guessing most welding transformers should be work ok :) A relay and timer on the mains input of a cheap stick plant could probably make a reliable low...

Automotive spot welder as battery welder?

Anyone know it a variable output industrial/automotive spot welder is suitable for battery terminal welding? I've a decent quality unit here that works well on very thin steel sheet but can't find any info using this type of unit for battery terminal welding. I've plenty of dead cells to try it...

My RC Mid Drive with Single Stage Reduction

That's a brushless model? I've a big version of one of the older brushed hitachis and same thing, completely replaced corded drills for anything other than high rpm and that's only because the cordless doesn't have a high gear, plenty of power there. Kind of surprised gutted brushless cordless...

My RC Mid Drive with Single Stage Reduction

One of the skateboard belt drive reduction kits would probably be a good option for low weight primary reduction, attach the sprocket in place of the skate wheel and most of the work is done (idler bearings + shaft, motor mount with slots for belt tensioning). Alternatively there are plenty of...

That's kind of what I mean about the Lipo's, I was planning on 4x 12v 15Ah lead acid, about $240 (0.72Kwh), that would have given over 200a burst but it turns out they'd only give me about 10a continuous before their capacity falls off badly (wiki link above). 12Ah lipo comes in at a bit under...

Yeah, when the thirst for horsepower and the creeping feature creature get together things are sure to get expensive fast! Hadn't come across those Kunray motors, if they're known to be durable then they look like a very good option :) RC motors appear to give more power/price on paper but...

Stripping out absolutely everything from the engine/gearbox unit except for the output shaft (ie. the one with the sprocket on it) and the bearings that support it. The bearings are likely to be a standard size so could be replaced with sealed units (about $15-20 for pair) and the shaft is...

Lol, I was about to say that's a really clean bike and it's almost a shame to take it apart... then I noticed the year in the photo :) If you can get access to basic fabrication gear then it shoulddn't be much problem to get a 120 section in that swinging arm. It'll look a bit strange but a...

    Build a mini USV/UPS

They can be run in paralel or there are higher output alternatives, I've some 5 amp 5v ones buried around here somewhere but can't remember the numbers atm, will have a look and edit if I can dig them out.

    Build a mini USV/UPS

If you're not too far in already maybe go up to 4s and drop back down to 12v with an LM7812: https://datasheet.octopart.com/LM7812-Inchange-Semiconductor-datasheet-15981488.pdf Cheap and extremely reliable, shouldn't be any problem finding ready made boards.

    APL's DIY axial-flux motor

That thing looks the business, congrats :) What's the issue with cutting the plates? Read through from about page 11 but don't recall seeing anything. For the windings, could you energise each phase with a couple of volts and check the magnetic polarity at each core?

Help,911 ...was riding in the rain and

I'm not familiar with the motor so can only offer a little. Is there any kind of regular stuttering, like it's powering for a few degrees of rotation, then not powering, then powering etc? If not then it's probably ok electrically, easy enough to test with a multimeter if you have one. If you...

One Handed Electrode Holder for Spot Welder or RSU

Sorry for digging up an old thread (it was linked in a sticky, list of battery building threads), does tungsten work ok? From TIG welding experience I would have thought it would be much more prone to sticking than copper. TIG electrodes are a cheap source of tungsten rod btw, usually welding...

    Axiom: a 100kW+ motor controller

OMG, huge thumbs up! My jaw dropped at the first post and I was at least 3 pages through before it closed again, you're genuinely going to change the world with what you're doing here :bigthumb: Why oh why didn't I come across this a couple of years back when I was looking into EV drives? (or...
