Wall wart chargers as dc to dc converters

Unless wall power supplies have changed since I looked at them (which is possible) they will not work as DC-DC converters at all. The main voltage conversion is done by differing windings of a transformer, which will only work with AC. If you put DC on the input it will get hot but not output...

Gear Sensor for Bafang BBS02 Mid Drive *+ other mid-drives?*

Definitely interested in how you get on! Michael

    freerides -E-nduro with Bafang BBS02

Oops - sorry - what I meant by shifting under PAS was when using PAS to engage the motor rather than a throttle. Fully understand you need to stop pedalling to shift so the motor isn't pulling!

    freerides -E-nduro with Bafang BBS02

Nice idea. Does it shift okay when using PAS too? I guess the one problem would be that when freewheeling the bottom of the chain will be under tension rather than the top. This might make shifting the rear derailleur a bit less slick and could allow more chain slap onto the top of the...

    Pedal Assist Sensors

Nice idea, but the problem with that solution is that it would still be sending signals when you are freewheeling. Therefore the motor wouldn't cut out when you stop pedalling. Michael

    looking for a 3a 3v led driver 60v input

A Battery Eliminator Circuit is a DC-DC converter, one designed to operate when powered by batteries in a reasonably harsh environment (model aircraft) and to provide high output current (for driving the servos). The one linked to will work on your stated battery pack of 12S, is small and...

8Fun 36V 250W battery sourcing UK specifically under seat

As you're in the UK you could go along to a B&Q where they are selling off MacAllister 36V 4Ah batteries plus chargers for the grand sum of £34. Apparently the whole MacAllister 36V system is being discontinued so they are selling off the batteries (they were £130). They are only available in...

    looking for a 3a 3v led driver 60v input

It's actually 50V max he needs, 12S which that unit will do. It is the max though - it won't do any more. Michael

    New Bafang Crank-Drives

Water up to the top of the motor - that is impressive! I haven't mounted my BBS01 kit yet (still deciding on host bike) but I'll probably add additional waterproofing to the connectors by using heatshrink tubing over the joints. I commute in all weather so need it to be watertight. Michael

    Removing 10s from 37.7 v EM3EV batt

That is fine if you wish to change (reduce) the voltage, and you'd make it a 5p9s or 5p8s pack (to use your nomenclature). It's also fine to change the capacity and make it a 4p10s. You would have to make sure you take one cell out of each 5p grouping so they all become 4p groups. Whether or...

    looking for a 3a 3v led driver 60v input

The best forum for bike lighting that I've come across is on the mtbr forums, in particular the DIY lighting forum. I have my homemade light that runs two XM-Ls in series, so requiring about 6.6V 3A. The driver itself is a TaskLED LFlex, a linear driver that burns off excess voltage as heat...

    Opportunity Charging in the UK

There's a scheme underway to offer nationwide charging in the UK. It's called cyclecharge - the website www.cyclecharge.org.uk is just being refreshed at the moment but it is detailed in a thread by user morphix on the pedelecs forum. The idea is there will be a network of fast chargers at...

Bafang BBS01 350w vs Dillenger 250w front hub

However isn't the BBS02 controller 48v, and you're running 36v? I'd look into programming the BBS01 though (as I expect I will do) to up the PAS current to the same as throttle current, and if necessary up the max current to 18A rather than 15A. cwah, in this thread byebyepetrol has posted...

Bafang BBS01 350w vs Dillenger 250w front hub

Yes, I think I read this on the programming thread - that the unit is set for lower assistance via PAS than throttle, but that can be altered. Can't remember which screen it's on though. Have ordered a BBS01 myself, and just on the hunt for a suitable host bike. Michael

Bafang BBS01 350w vs Dillenger 250w front hub

It's not - the individual weights are given at the top of this thread, and the motor unit weighed 3.8kg. However the total weight gain over the base bike is 7kg, which includes the battery pack, crank arms, display and everything else. Michael

    Bosch Mid-Drive 250-350W make faster?

No, no power increase possible to my knowledge. It's already nearer 500W than 250W apparently. There's not much call for 1kW or above in Europe where Bosch are from - it's all about 250W (the legal limit). Also bikes with the Bosch system are not exactly cheap so people would be rather...

    Bosch Mid-Drive 250-350W make faster?

Indeed there are a number of solutions, virtually all operating by intercepting the speed sensor signal before it gets to the motor. The badassebikes dongle https://www.badassebikes.com/en/ is one of the most common - battery powered and clips over the original speed sensor so easily removable...

Bafang BBS01 350w vs Dillenger 250w front hub

Thanks for the breakdown of weights for the BBS01. This is very helpful information as I'm looking to convert a lightweight bike so will be totting up the grams! Michael

    FX-E singlEspeed

Looks great! What's the weight, before and after the conversion? I like the routing of cables inside the frame - did you drill it or were the holes already there? Michael
