    GNG, 1000W 48V BB-drive, $400

Yes these are extended. The amount of extension is arbitrary, based on Christerljung's work. Since I don't have my hands on a kit yet I decided to rely on his judgement. They can obviously be extended more if there is a reason.

    GNG, 1000W 48V BB-drive, $400

Here is my idea for making a slide adjustable jackshaft sheet for the GNG. This would allow both the fitting of larger gears or pulleys as well as the proper adjustment of the primary drive side without a tensioner. Since this slides at a right angle to the secondary chain it would have minimal...

    GNG, 1000W 48V BB-drive, $400

Christerljung I agree that extending the plates is the way to go. I further want mine to be slide adjustable. I'm working up a CAD drawing today. I hope to be able to post this afternoon to show my thoughts. Since my GNG kit is still somewhere in China I used Christer's photos of the sheets to...

    GNG, 1000W 48V BB-drive, $400

I'm glad to read that people are thinking about properly tensioning the drive belt without the use of spring tensioners. If you read the data sheet on Gates belts, Gates warns about backbending and manhandling their belts. The carbon that provides the strength in the belt is a bit like glass-...

    GNG, 1000W 48V BB-drive, $400

Here is what a quality, American made mid drive looks like. Matt Schumacher (Recumpence) makes these. Note the alternator type pivot tensioner on the primary reduction. This is how Matt runs 9 kW through a Gates belt without shredding it. Yes the belt is also wider and that is also a good idea...

    GNG, 1000W 48V BB-drive, $400

Matt's drives are works of art. I'm building a cheap-o GNG drive to sort out my controller and batteries and then hope to build another, better bike using one of his drives. He does everything right, using a wider Gates primary drive and no spring tensioners. I may be wasting money trying to fix...

    GNG, 1000W 48V BB-drive, $400

Denisesewa I think you are right on about the sheets needing to be adjustable. Whether belt or chain drive it's much better to avoid spring loaded tensioners and move one pulley/sprocket or the other to get the correct tension. I've been designing sheets like this in my mind for several weeks...

    GNG, 1000W 48V BB-drive, $400

Sorry Iperov, that was unfair of me. They finally responded to my messages. They say they're still trying to get the GNG kits. We'll see what happens next week. When they "refunded" your money did it go back into your Mister Tao holding account or was it reversed from your credit card? If it's...

So Iperov, you brought Mister Tao's link into the forum, but you do not use them. Why bring them in if you know that they are a "slowpoke"? I've told them that I will reverse the VISA charge if I do not hear from them and still no response. -Mike

    GNG, 1000W 48V BB-drive, $400

Mister Tao Update.... I have messaged Mr. Tao 3 times on their own system asking them if the order is still in place or if they have cancelled the order due to "unavailable goods". They have not responded. My money is in a "Mr. Tao account" meaning that they have charged my card and are...

    GNG, 1000W 48V BB-drive, $400

I ordered two kits yesterday from Mr. Tao. I had to put the money for the kits into an account before they would take the order. This morning I rec'd this e-mail from them. Dear friend sorry to bother you. You have to wait a week for the item. because the seller do not have that now. If...

    Another DH Project

Thank you for this tremendous build and your generosity in sharing so much information. Looking at your final conclusions of (1) excessively brutal power delivery, (2) difficulty in keeping front end on ground, it reminded me of another two wheeled conveyance from long ago. You're an old fart...
