Wilderness Energy stopped working

Help: I think I'm having a similar problem to the original poster. I'm running what looks very much like a WE set up (I bought it on ebay last year and there were no instructions). Yesterday, it stopped working. The motor is sensorless with three wires, and the controller has the same red...

    A different e-Zip Trailz

I understand and don't disagree with what you said above. My "450" doesn't blow the 20 amp fuse I put on it at 24 volt (nor did it burn out after extended running at full throttle), so I doubt that it really is truly a "rated" 450. But it certainly isn't the same as the "250", which is what...

    A different e-Zip Trailz

I'll be the first to offer up my 250 in trade for a 450 :-) I notice that the September shipment has arrived at TNCscooters. The 450 version seems to be in stock now, 60$. http://tncscooters.com/product.php?sku=106118 Tho

    A different e-Zip Trailz

I agree with you: I have two Curie MY1018 motors, and the resistance of the coils are very different. The high output version may or may not be the full 450W, but they are definitely not the same.

    Wooden box

All good things must end....I came into my garage yesterday and found that my 40-cell D size NiMH has died a swollen, smelly, icky death. Should have put a thermal switch on the charger. I still haven't figured out what happened--the charger shouldn't have done it, but it did. But at any case...

home style breaker for ebike use

Maybe you guys can clear up something that I was told: I was told that circuit breakers are not fast-acting enough to protect FETs and would put most controllers at risk. Because of this, I usually put a circuit breaker with lower rating (say, 20amp) in series with a higher rated fuse (say, 30...

Yet another MY1018Z currie motor post

Hey there. I've been reading the archives on this motor, and currently have an opportunity to check out the two samples that I own. I have one 24V/250W version of this motor that I bought from tncscooters.com. I also recently purchase a Mongoose CX24V450, which has a unit that says "Curie motor...

    Currie/Ezip/Izip/Mongoose Freewheels

I just picked up one of these bikes, and my first thought is to replace the 20 tooth lefty freewheel with a 13-14 lefty freewheel to trade torque for top speed. It seems like that it is just a BMX lefty hub to me, am I wrong? I would buy the lefty freewheel from here...

Ride Video! I didn't find a friend to be the camera man, but I found my tripod. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MCEoaj7BCu8 <param name="allowFullScreen"...

Nah. It's just that I tend to button my shirt collars too tight; makes my head looks big. And yeah, what's with the music on these Youtube bike videos? Maybe loud music makes the bike looks like it's going really fast....

    Wooden box

Steal away! Eventually, it will have some solar panels or an extra battery pack, but for now, it's a mail/grocery getter. It rides very well. I loaded up with about 40 lbs of tools and it actually become more stable, less vibrations. I don't think it has as much load carrying as my utility...

Well, I still have no friends...no one to video me riding it. But here's a walk around on the Ghetto Cycle Mk IV. No duct tape on the finished product. Does bungee cords count? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k9eorq8wUUQ

That's EXACTLY what I was going after. I love the look of those old bikes; they look like they were built by "guys," not "companies." In the long list of projects is one that I actually may have to pull out the welder. It has a name already, the SGF, based on Harley's "Silent Grey Fellow"...but...

It's from an old "roadster" bike, but mounted upside down. kind of like this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Brosen_city_bicycle.jpg I originally bought a mustache bar for the bike, but this one actually worked out better. Tho

More craziness. I own a couple of utility trikes and absolutely love using them for short shopping trips. Since I'm not yet ready to dedicate a whole motor system to one of the trikes, I decided that Ghetto Cycle mk IV will need a side car attachment. It's kind of slapped together for now...

    Bubba's Experiment

Does the thread of a screw convert from right hand thread to left hand thread if you just flip it around? :-P Seriously though, this thread is so cool. Even though I'm no stranger to magnetic materials and motor technology, these little RC motors are still mind bogglingly amazing!

    X5305 Chopper ver.2

Very nice work. Did you have to make a special axle for the motor or is the axle of the motor stock? I have the same frame, and the drop out spacing is like 8", longer than anything I've seen.

    Wooden box

I've been thinking about building a moped class (in AZ that means 25 mph and 1.5bhp) scooter in the manner you suggested. Making a bicycle with pedals in that manner is a little bit more complicated because of the wood-metal joint at the bottom bracket with all sorts of chain line and clearance...

    Wooden box

Just a couple of quick coats of oil finish and assembly. I added 2 riv-nuts onto the frame, and it now holds the box very rigidly. I doesn't rain here that often, but I'm thinking maybe I should make some wooden fenders just for looks...

    Wooden box

OK...I got the bike together enough for a test ride. Had to do a bit of Ghetto engineering to accomplish this. I wired the battery pack for 24V, and turn it on/off with a DC toggle momentary switch instead of using the 48v controller that I have. Kind of crude, but at 24V, it works just fine...

    Wooden box

The box is now ready to be mounted onto the bike for test ride. Total weight is 16 lbs, The weight of the box itself is 2lbs, just shy of a kilogram. I guess it's a little overbuilt, but probably good to have a little bit extra strength. That's 10 Ahr at 48 volts...or 20 ahr at 24 volts.

    Wooden box

It's still the same pack of 40 that I've been transferring back and forth between the bikes. At the rate it's going, I guess I'll be stuck with them for a while. Not that I'm complaining. They've been reasonably light, reliable, and maintenance-free. Mechanically, good construction of wood is...

    Wooden box

Hey there. Currently I'm working on my Ghetto Cycle Mk4. I thought some of you may be interested in seeing how I put together the battery compartment. For what ever reason, I have a strong preference for building things out of wood, and I have quite a bit of experience with the medium. So I...
