Golden motor magic pie GM1 at 2700RPM

While it might be fun to see what happens to a bike rim at 2700rpm i was planning on removing the rim. But what I was thinking along the same lines is the centripetal force at the edge of the motor casing. "rim velocity". From what I have seen quoted elsewhere, "when you double the rotational...

Golden motor magic pie GM1 at 2700RPM

Hi All, Long time since I have been on this board. I have a very different project not ebike related... I'm pushing around ideas, and the endless forum is full of smarter more edumacated people than me. So hope to generate some comments :| The  is to bulk charge 16X200amp winstone...

Please help me decide LiPo/A123 (electric outboard)

Sorry to rain on your idea but. A 20AmpHour 48V battery has 960watt hours. To provide a 15kw peak the pack needs to provide peak amps of 312 amps (if the battery voltage did not sag below 48). That’s 15C discharge so A123 or decent Lipo is viable, however the fun would last about 4...

    Pick a Voltage, Any Voltage

Could not agree more. Drop the 200w constraint. Hi Shebe, Some real life examples that might help which direction you go. Not sure which part of melb your from so examples might not be relevant. But for me, Eastern suburbs (Ringwood) to city along Eastern freeway bike track. 1.5 hours using...

    “5000W” GoldenMotor controller and motor

Hi Doc I wonder too. Asked GM the other day (Fri Oct 09, 2009 12:31 pm) "Out of intrest has anyone used your 5000w motor yet? Nothing on the web yet apart from some dill wishing to use it for a windmill " exsert From: GoldenMotor Fri Oct 09, 2009 2:20 pm "5000W has been used by many people...

HOW TO RESOLVE A LITTLE ELECTRONICS CHARGING CHALLENGE!

HOW TO RESOLVE A LITTLE ELECTRONICS CHARGING CHALLENGE!

Not my circuit, its just a reference design on the LM2577. RE GOLDEN MOTOR, I have the older rear BL 36/500w with regen, overvolted to 48 with the zener trick. Only problem with the GM deliverd is the RIM bucked on the third ride, without abuse. Have not heard anything good about their...

HOW TO RESOLVE A LITTLE ELECTRONICS CHARGING CHALLENGE!

Hi Leg, Did not bother to talk about 12V pack on your front brushed motor (if I read it corectly). If this is infact your intent, then no not a good idea. Unless the motor has a very high KV it would always have more EMF than pack voltage. RE: "FRONT LIKE A GEN TO CHARGE" No such...

    48V 20Ah LiFePO4 batteries $330-$400 shipped, on Ebay?

I've had mine apart to resize the battery into the bike frame. 12 cells in a string = 192 cells.

HOW TO RESOLVE A LITTLE ELECTRONICS CHARGING CHALLENGE!

That’s a difficult post to read I'm not answering your post completely. For charging a 36v lifepo4 pack you will need a DC to DC converter capable of boosting your variable 18v solar panel voltage to 43v to fully charge a 36V lifepo4 pack. Something like this...

    faulty 48v Battery Charger

Hi dnmun, When I have time I'll go dig up a thermistor from one of the many computer PSW's I somehow seem to collect. Reducing the PWM, I could also probably play with the feed back that the opto coupler is supplying, I’ll see how thermistor goes first. Only reason I has thinking of...

    48V 20Ah LiFePO4 batteries $330-$400 shipped, on Ebay?

Hi LA, I bought a 48v 15ah from HK-power. The batterys are 20% heavier than the "pings" due to 18650 cells rather than the pouches in a ping. Runs at 52V most of the time, sags to 48v under 30amp load. Mine is impossible to keep balanced, and the BMS(resistive balancer) has a fault on a channel...

    faulty 48v Battery Charger

Although thinking about it some more. If the thermistor is the fault, it could have seen resistance rise as it went faulty blowing the fuse before the thermistor had a chance to let go. Restarting without the fuse would kick off its final dramatic demise.

2 year old Grubee Kit or a New Golden Motor Kit

Yes I think the secondhand kit is worth it. It is a brushless gearless hub. As the site puts it a "DD old style" (and note the power rateing they claim). So throw enough volts and amps at it, and it goes pretty well, and it's virtualy silent. 350watt is really about the controller not the...

    faulty 48v Battery Charger

dnmun, I checked the cap as I expected there is a short down circuit from thermistor. Events: Charger blows fuse, when connected to battery half hour into chargeing. Charger blows thermistor with a load pop when fuse is bypassed and no load on output. No burnt smell, or damage, (apart from...

Okay....What Do You All Make Of This Battery Charger......

Hi Dn, I'd suggest you Google "amp meter connection" to see how to measure amps. Problem with measuring high amps through a multimeter is that the wire in the probes tend not to be designed for amps. My probe wire tends to get very hot above 3amps. Until now I would have suggested a wattsup...

    faulty 48v Battery Charger

Hi, I’m running at 240V 50 hertz because that is what comes out of the wall in Australia. Thanks for the offer of parts, it really is a pain sometimes to locate something suitable for a reasonable price much appreciated. The fuse is not the issue. As the fuse is on the high side...

2 year old Grubee Kit or a New Golden Motor Kit

This appears to be a no brainier. For whats it’s worth I'd get the second hand setup, toss the SLA and invest the savings into some lithium. That motor looks like a GM motor, with a machined cover. Whats the voltage of the second hand setup?

    faulty 48v Battery Charger

Hi All, Have lurked in this forum for a number of years now, lots of good info to absorb. I have a 48v charger that worked for about 2 charges before it gave up. I don't hold much hope for it but figured I might as well put it up here to see if any of the clever people have any bright ideas...

Okay....What Do You All Make Of This Battery Charger......

Hi Mv, To fully charge a 36v pack you need 43V. As your measuring it unloaded 45V is normal. If charger was only 43V it would take forever to charge that last bit of battery capacity. The BMS should take care of manageing the end of charge. What you describe is normal. RE Killing your probes...

    mixing battery chemistry's

Well then above answer does not apply. :? As the cells will have different impedence state of charge between cells as the variable load changes will still impact. It can be done though its not ideal. good enough in my books for what its worth.

    The cost of stopping

Hi Sw, I Have the old GM regen controller running at 48v and a CA. The CA calculates percentage of Regen. I have not seen it yet go over %5 recovered energy for a trip. Have also read that regen was not worth it on a electric bicycle and i'd pretty much agree on the recovered energy aspect...

    cheap LiPoly performance

Hi Dozen, I have the same setup for my range extender, though a string of 5000mah and 4000mah cells. Don't bother with expectation of 15c, thats just rubbish. Get yourself a watts up meter, as not sure where your getting your figures from without one, or a CA. To be fully charged the pack should...
