Oh MAC! Why hast thou forsaken me?

I use 3- 8S packs in one pannier, and 3- 6S packs in the other for a total of 16 amp hrs. These are the readily available 5.8 ah cells from Hobbyking. Easy hook-up, both sides are wired in parallel as is proper, then a series connector at the controler where i bulk charge with a pigtail...

    My BIG ASS Battery !

Very true, I rode this way for a year, we always carry extra stuff anyways which gets placed into the other pannier.

Oh MAC! Why hast thou forsaken me?

14 series lipo packs is what i've been riding with for years. It's an ideal size for many reasons, one is bulk charging, because standard 58.4 volt lifepo chargers are easily available and cheap. And 14 series batteries is fast enough to go 52 kmh (30mph) with a 9-C motor, not too heavy...

    My BIG ASS Battery !

Yep, that's the way i carry the weight. Groceries can still fit inside each with care.

    Kill-a-watt meter findings

We pay just under 10 cents per kwh, and i live nowhere near a power plant. New York must have lots of overhead to ask so much more. It costs me .06 cents per hour to run my 600 watt charger, which never runs more than 2 hours if completely run-down.

BMS Battery Alloy Shell Charger Problems

True, this has been an issue with my 600 watt unit also, i was thinking to try and spread, or twist the male prongs first to see if it contacts better in the female end, and hold tighter.

    Lost in Lipo

Easy, just purchase a "Y" cable from "Icecube57" or "methtek.com", both are highly respected members on this forum for years. Plug your batteries into one end of the three ended cable, then plug the other end into your controler, you are left with only one plug left empty... which is the bulk...

How to shorten the wheelbase of a Bike E

Then the forks were put on backwards, or the steerer tube assembly was spun 180 deg. they're bent backwards bud. Take a closer look? edit... the brake calipers seem to be in front like my older bikes were, yet the forks bend back, and the handle bars sideways, quite the puzzle indeed.

What kind of helmet do you use?

Okay, I change my choice to what "Racer_X" and "Gestalt" said about the "ski helmets" they totally rock for cold weather, safety, and good-looks factor for the win :)

How to shorten the wheelbase of a Bike E

It looks like the front forks are bent back also. There is more to the story than is told. The Corona beer sticker in bold lettering might be a clue. Aluminum bike frames look nice & fat with the huge, almost comical welds, I bought only one and the ride was soo harsh even with the front...

What kind of helmet do you use?

I only max-out at 32mph (50kmh) like most folks here, which ia plenty fast, this is cool and safe helmet made for e-bikes. They also sell earmufs that are buit-in.

    Easy battery discharge setup

I connect my battery packs to a hairdryer and the balance leads to a Celllog. This way you can either hear the dryer slowing, or the Celllog beeping when one cell reaches low voltage cut-off. But I'm usually soldering other stuff at the same time and monitor closely.

eTrike Conversion - as Mobility device! ... ?

That "Irish wheel chair" trike looks very similar to the "Lightfoot" trike I'm interested in.

    E-recumbent is amazing

Absolutely correct about the comfort, and overcoming the drawbacks recumbents have with low speed handling issues. Just twist & go past the 3mph/ (5kmh) threshold where my LWB bike can be cumbersome. Lots of room for panniers and the built-in passive suspension from the cr-mo steel frame to...

How to balance a highly unbalanced Lipo

Yes, this is exactly what i also do with a low cell in a group. The price for parts is FREE, and the time is about 15 minutes for a 30mv out-of-wack cell. My old cellphone chargers are 1 amp and most of us have one or two of them left over. This system works great and you can monitor the gain...

Is using thick silicone wire a waste of money?

The wires on my 7 foot long bike is 12ga, and the controller is rated at 35 amps, after a few years like this it only warmed-up a tad after a long grind up a steep hill wide open. But it was also a hot day so it may have been the sun and black wire combo soaking. But the 45 amp Anderson...

My "Last Ditch" LiPo safety loop paid off for me today

Oops, thanks for clearing that up "Neptronix" I'll check my cells more carefully next time. But rarely go under 3.8volts because they start to drift when lower, so i never see it happen. Perhaps my confidence level exceeds my cell balance level, they seem to be working fine, but will...

My "Last Ditch" LiPo safety loop paid off for me today

Hmmm, I've never had a puffed cell yet, been bulk charging for two years with daily use. Was hoping the CycleAnayst would show a 3+ volt drop in value plus other indicators for me to check with my Celllog to isolate the buggered-up cell. But alas, it never happened yet because i never drop...

    Bulk charger recomendations?

I have a 600 watt charger from BMS and it works great for the past few months of daily usage. Mine was set for 58 volts, but you can ask for any voltage you like in the pull-down screen when you order it. Plus the potentiometers inside will work to fine-tune the charger if you need. This same...

    New Bike Trouble.

Did you check the CA plug for a loose signal wire? The wires going into the plug i mean. That's what I'd look for first, It's usually the easiest things we over-look. I understand how frustrating this can be, but check it one step at a time bud, good luck.

    Did my first wheel build

Takes a lot of self confidence to tackle this job, but very rewarding. Mine was a 20" 9-C with piss poor spokes with loose threads and they slipped out after only a few weeks of use. So i changed them over to good quality spokes and all is well after many years of riding.

    Henry111's free tech support thread

I don't think I've ever put washers inside my forks because they would not settle safely, perhaps of the loose fit of the washer itself, I forget it was so long ago. Either way it was a shakey looking affair so i bought a larger set of lug-nuts with 30% more length, and better threads. All is...

New xtracycle edgerunner cargo bike - what do you think?

I think the new "Extracycle cargobike" is a great idea. And the fact they are Cro-moly makes for a very comfortable bike. My 7 foot long bike pictured in avatar (except with panniers) is the most comfortable bike by leaps and bounds. these new cargo goodies are hopefully better designed. Good...
