kWeld - "Next level" DIY battery spot welder

Hello Frank, I use my kSupply to generate 5.5V and would like to replace the single turn trimmer with 2 fixed resistors. How can I calculate their value? Thanks.

I took already into consideration that english is not your language neither mine so sorry if I got you wrong. It doesn`t matter what connectors are those what matters is they are not designed for these current levels, keep this in mind, and they will add resistance that like I said simply stays...

First of all let me mention that I am not affiliated in anyway with Frank, I just appreciate what he did and also have my respect for the ''amateur community''(as you call us) here. I shared my discoveries to help the others just like their past posts helped me! did you ever think that maybe in...

How can you compare something that has already a good reputation (kweld) with some chinese stuff that you know nothing about? You can set in the welder the default startup value for the joules. Anyway why do you need so many joules? What are you welding? My suggestion is first optimize your...

hello guys, sorry for the late reply but I didn’t get the email notifications from here. It shouldn’t be the case but it works like that. 60j every 3s means a lot of heat which requires to optimize a few things. You will need thicker wires between the welder and the pen also between the power...

kWeld - "Next level" DIY battery spot welder

I managed to update my welder. First I had a 11.1v 260ah lipo that I used as main power source. This battery gave 1500a currents when charged at 11.1-11.2v, never went higher. Now with the supercaps and the new wiring the story changes. I get 1500a when I charge the supercaps to 5.5V. I tried...

I think I solved it. I managed to weld 0.15mm nickel sandwiched with 0.2mm copper. Now it doesn’t stick anymore and the welds look good. I ordered also some 3mm tellurium rods but at this point I don’t think they are needed but they could be good spares in the future. A big thanks to all!

With a more powerful probe do you mean a more powerful welding pen or only the electrodes or the entire combo?? I used it on 0.2mm nickel. I was thinking to cut the thinner part of the electrodes and try to sharpen a bit the remaining part. If this doesn’t work I seen some 3mm C14500 tellurium...

Actually that is the nickel strip that remained attached to the electrode. Edit. Looking better I think that it’s actually the copper that melted? What other test can I do to be sure the electrodes are the problem and not something else?

kWeld - "Next level" DIY battery spot welder

Hello guys, I use a kwelder for a few years and recently bought for it a welding pen from aliexpress and some electrodes that come with the pen. Now the problem is that the electrodes stick to the nickel strip after the welding and they even melted(this happened when I calibrated the system...
