Re: avanti D8085 - maybe to be renamed D8-93??

I don't think you want a lyen sensorless controller. It looks like they will only go to about 2200 rpm on turnigy/leaderhobby motors with 14 poles (as can be seen below the red 'quality available list' in his first post in the thread below)...

    Sensored RPM Limit

The turnigy's are 14 pole motors, 12 slot stators. If you look at the link below they set the 170kV motors to a max of 75% throttle on the basic speed kelly's to prevent the motor from exceeding 40,000 erpm. http://scolton.blogspot.com/2011/10/okay-tinykart-frightens-me-now.html

    Sensored RPM Limit

Well thud tested a 14 pole motor past 11K rpm's on a modified ecrazyman/infineon controller at the bottom of this thread http://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=18578&start=30 so that's about 7*11000=77000 erpm. The Kelly's with the ultra high speed firmware can supposedly go up...

leaderhobby LiPo packs? Has anyone experience with?

low discharge and charge rates, low cycle life, last generation technology, poor quality pack construction <-----all guesses otoh I did have a good experience with them when buying a 6374-170kv motor I ordered a black motor, but since those were out of stock even thought the website failed to...

Extended swing arms / longer wheel base

You forget that it's currently fall in Canada and rapidly progressing towards winter. Anyways it's interesting that you are so grumpy considering it's spring going on summer down in the southern hemisphere.

    alternate to turnigy 80-100

an alternate name for 80-100's is a 7050 which is the size of the stator (approximately) if you search that, you can get some available results, including bphobbies which is based in the US if you just want stators, there are several places to look old copier motors -...

what controler fit on this one

To get full power out of that motor, I'm not sure that an affordable, accessable controller, sensored or sensorless, currently exists. For now, until a better controller can be developed and made available, you probably want a hv160 (sensorless) or an 18/24/36 fet (sensored). To help develop a...

Aluminum parts for the motor internals

If you're talking about the part around the magnets, that needs to be steel unless a the magnets are in a halbach array, however the rest can be whatever material you would like as long as it's strong enough and can handle some heat from the stator.

    alternate to turnigy 80-100

Thud, Your drawing only shows 18 magnets as opposed to the 20 you spec'd below it. I assume you mean to show 20 magnets for an ABC winding and maximum inductance as well as there being operational windings.

    Hobbykings new 5000mAh hardcase LiPos

It's definitely the cheapest lipo at hobbyking besides the B grade stuff. No free shipping, but for my 7 packs I only paid $10.10 in shipping so it's still pretty cheap.

    Lipo charging setup?

Thanks to all for the advice. @neptronix Thanks for the heads up about the iCharger. This setup still seems like the best option to me, just because it is so versatile. I'm not seeing a 108 model, and the 208 model costs a lot ($60) more. Btw, I'm also in Beaverton so we live pretty close to...

This is my first post here, although I have read a lot and want to thank everybody for all the information they have so generously made available to people like me. Anyways, I just purchased 7 Turnigy 5000mAh 4S1P 14.8V 20C hardcase packs from the USA warehouse to make an 8S3P pack for 29.6V...
