    3 speed switch

Hi everyone, How does the 3 speed switch work? When I'm in speed 1, it accelerates more slowly and the top speed (WOT) is pretty slow. In speed 2, I get some decent acceleration, top speed, etc. it looks good. In speed 3, I get a sputtering motor that just gets power going in/out every...

    RVD's first ebike (TidalForce S-750, 9C 2807, etc.)

ah, where were you last week? anyway, it actually doesn't matter because the freewheel that i got from LBS didn't fit right anyway. the one that came in from e-bikekit threads on perfectly and doesn't stick. so even if i were to remove the old one, i didn't have a new one to put on.

    RVD's first ebike (TidalForce S-750, 9C 2807, etc.)

ok what the heck. this is just to document anyway. here are a few dark pictures that i took last night at 1am in my garage after the bike was done and i went on my maiden ride. I am actually an amateur / semi-pro photographer so it kind of pains me to just take pictures with my cell phone. i...

    RVD's first ebike (TidalForce S-750, 9C 2807, etc.)

this is done! well, it's done in the ES sense...meaning that it runs now and it's usable but there are still a list of upgrades, tweaks, modifications, etc...that will be ongoing forever. Anyway, the bike is up and running. It has a few minor issues here and there but the batteries are hooked...

    doesn't work...motor won't start.

it works! the LVC was set up correctly by Lyen because when i bought it, i told him that i would be running it with a 48v lifepo so he lowered the LVC to 36.5v. my problem was that the hall wires weren't set up correctly. once i changed the hall wires (switched position of blue and green), it...

noob lipo advice...does this sound right?

good. the hyperion 1420i is nice and can do 14s. that doesn't necessarily mean that you have to run at 14s. i would probably recommend running at 12s for simplicity (less batteries to connect) at first and then move up to 14s. i believe most mistakes (shorting batteries, KFF, etc.) will...

    doesn't work...motor won't start.

ok got it. i was being stupid (regarding the LVC). it looks like the default LVC for these are 62.5 so that explains it. i'll probably try running it at 18s. i also think i may have had the hall wires connected improperly so i will double check that.

    doesn't work...motor won't start.

Thanks everyone. I will double check my hall and phase wires tonight as I think I messed that up. I want to start with 12s and then just have the option of moving up in voltage in the future to 18s if I feel like it. That is why I went with a 72v controller. I just figured a 72v could be...

    doesn't work...motor won't start.

ok i finally got all of the parts in today so i got around to hooking everything up. i pretty much expected this but sure enough, when i hooked everything up....nothing. the motor doesn't run, etc. for this test, i hooked up the throttle, 3 speed switch, cycleanalyst, motor, motor phase wires...

cheap lipo charger - change end voltage?

thanks. yeah i know that 4.1 is safe but i just wasn't sure if setting the charger to lilo and charging lipo was safe. sounds like 3.6 it is. btw, i've seen your graph a lot. looks great....

problem with anderson connectors? can't get them to click!

once the tricrimp broke, it was unusable. one of the metal hinges broke off or something so when you squeeze the die cast part would never actually crimp down. i did come up with that workaround though last week so it was usable but those first few crimps were a pain. it's all good now though...

problem with anderson connectors? can't get them to click!

I believe my crimper was faulty. That crimper actually ended up breaking on me. I was squeezing pretty hard on a 45 amp connector when something inside broke. I bought a new one on powerwerx and sent this one back. The new one crimps better and I am able to get the wire into the housing with...

cheap lipo charger - change end voltage?

Is that the only difference and is it safe? My cells weren't totally balanced yesterday so they ended up being charged at around 4.25-4.28 which was getting pretty close to the 4.3 limit that I don't like to get too close to... Maybe I'll try the fast charge thing. Either way, I don't need...

cheap lipo charger - change end voltage?

Hi, I have some cheap chargers (turnigy 8150, imax b8) and a nice charger (hyperion 1420i). I know how to change the end voltage for charging on the hyperion (change the TCS from 100% to 90%, etc.) but my cheap chargers are charging my cells pretty high. they want to charge my 6s up to...

    RVD's first ebike (TidalForce S-750, 9C 2807, etc.)

ronnie, i know EXACTLY what you are talking about. i got impatient and bought my own freewheel from my LBS and ran into that exact problem. freewheel got stuck and won't spin. i used my chain whip to loosen it but i can't get it off without a freewheel remover tool like this...

    newbie yescomusa and battery questions

USA warehouse has turnigy 6s 5000mah 20C lipo packs in stock right now. However, which charger are you planning to get? Also, unless you get an AC charger, you will also need to get a power supply (or use your car battery every time you want to charge).

    RVD's first ebike (TidalForce S-750, 9C 2807, etc.)

the batteries are about 900 grams each. Since at full capacity there are 8 of them, it totals around 7200 grams = 7.2kg = 16 pounds. not bad for 12s4p or roughly 44v 20ah but still enough weight to definitely feel it. i actually plan to ride at 12s2p most of the time so it will be only 1/2 of...

    RVD's first ebike (TidalForce S-750, 9C 2807, etc.)

yup, it's getting close. i did take the bike out for a spin with regular wheels and fully loaded with 8 batteries (my full 12s4p setup) and pedaled down the street. it was heavy and the weight distribution was a bit off so we'll see how it goes later when it's built out.

    RVD's first ebike (TidalForce S-750, 9C 2807, etc.)

This project has hit a little bit of a snag. I suppose part of it is my fault but I bought the 2807 motor w/ wheel from e-bikekits and it took awhile to get it (probably about 1.5 weeks or so). But when I got it, I realized that it didn't come with a freewheel since I didn't buy the entire kit...

    meanwell charging lipos

Hi Everyone, I finally got my meanwell power supplies yesterday so I ran some charge/discharge cycles on my lipos to get a feel for them. I got a meanwell SP-500-24 so this outputs 24 volts at up to 500 (actually 480) watts. I hooked this up to my Hyperion 1420i charger. I was conservative...

    newbie yescomusa and battery questions

that charger is fine. the only downside is that since it can only do 6s, if you have a higher voltage system (e.g. 12s or 14s), then you will have to break up your lipo packs for charging. it's not a big deal but just be careful that you don't screw something up (e.g. short out a lipo pack)...

    newbie yescomusa and battery questions

You've learned a lot... Use a true lipo charger that will balance, etc. 6s 5000mah is the best in terms of price / performance so most people use 12s for power, charging simplicity (with a hyperion), etc. some use 18s or even 24s but dont do that yet... There is no plug and play system...
