    RVD's first ebike (TidalForce S-750, 9C 2807, etc.)

ah cool. i do plan to swap out the saddle. i will likely just swap it out with a brooks saddle. they're heavy but pretty comfortable. i also have an extra fizik alliante from my road bike that i liked but it's still a road bike saddle (so not very plush).

    what should i get?

thanks for the info wesnewell. i took your advice and i'm going lipo. i bought 8 turnigy 6s 5000mah 20c lipo packs from HK. i bought a fairly inexpensive charger as well as some other stuff. i plan to run them in 2 series (so 12s) and 4 parallel for a total of 20ah equiv. however, at start...

    RVD's first ebike (TidalForce S-750, 9C 2807, etc.)

Since I received the frame today from oatnet, here's a post about setting it up. The box. You can see my wife's Townie Electra in the background as well as a glimpse of the cheap costco bike behind it. The frame was pretty well packed without any cranks, etc. pointing out of the box...

    RVD's first ebike (TidalForce S-750, 9C 2807, etc.)

This thread is where I will document my progress on building my first e-bike. My goal is to build a decent electric bike that I can use for my 17 miles (each way) commute. The route is 95%+ on a bike trail so there are almost no traffic lights, etc. I commute along this trail on my road...

    what should i get?

I've read pretty much everything that I can get my hands on regarding lipo but I'm still not totally understanding it's range, etc. Yes, I understand that a very high quality charger is required to ensure safety. Charging it in a virtually fireproof area is also good (oven, bbq, ammo case...

    what should i get?

heh yeah...i know it's just a can of worms waiting to open up. i already have 3 bikes and this will be a 4th. my wife isn't going to be too happy but oh well...i'm pretty good at building stuff in the garage without her knowledge. but one day she'll notice another bike out there. come to...

48V 20AH battery for sale on ebay in USA any good?

I'm tempted. I think I might buy one of these over a ping battery. Not necessarily because of the price savings (I think this is only about $20 cheaper) but because of the speed in shipping. Ping says he can't get me a battery for 3 weeks while I think this guy can have a battery to me in 3-5...

    what should i get?

ah nice. thanks for the info. i am in decent shape but when i ride 18-20mph for my 17 miles commute, it is on my cervelo RS road bike...so carbon fiber everything, etc. on my mountain bike, it's a bit slower (takes me about 1:20 to get to work instead of 1:05 on my road bike). i have had a...

    what should i get?

thanks for the info. Sounds like a 48v 500 watt motor with a 48v 20ah battery is the way to go. I will be able to charge at each end and the ride is mostly flat. I also cycle regularly so I'm in half decent cycling shape (although i could stand to lose a few pounds). I weigh around 190...

    what should i get?

Hi Everyone, I'm sure you get these types of queries very often but I'm brand new at this. This site is obviously a great resource so I've been reading as much as I can for the past few days, etc. I generally ride my bike a lot and try to commute to work a few days/wk by bike. My commute is...
