QSMOTOR,0.5-12kW Electric Hub Motor & Mid Drive Motor Manufacture China

The 1200w rating is what you can do continuously without over heating. It can handle a LOT more power for short periods of time...the shorter the time the higher the power it can handle.

Leaf / leafmotor / leafbike high efficiency 1500w motor

How about those Leaf 1500w motors :). IMO what you are seeing is all the relatively inexperienced people think they can find a better deal or a motor that can handle more power...and you CAN. BUT you can't find a better deal on a motor that can handle more power :). The newbies want to come...

Leaf / leafmotor / leafbike high efficiency 1500w motor

If you go to the Hengtai web site: Products you'll see the above motor is rated for 1,000w. I can believe 1,000w but it will over heat if you run it at 1,500w continuously. It will take a little while but eventually it will over heat. The MAC has pretty high efficiency...I did a run with the...

Popping and grinding coming from rear wheel

Best single speed freewheel is the White Industries "Green" Trials Freewheel. 72 points of engagement. White also produces a two speed freewheel and their regular freewheel is better than most.

Leaf / leafmotor / leafbike high efficiency 1500w motor

Problems you are going to run into with the bike you referenced...not a chance in Hell it will do 1500w continuously without over heating. Check the Grin Tech web site for the GMAC and it will give you an idea the maximum wattage you can run through a good geared hub motor continuously: GMAC -...

Leaf / leafmotor / leafbike high efficiency 1500w motor

The QS212 is lighter than the Leaf 1500w motor so I am not sure why you guys are saying it is heavy???? vladrov...I use the Crystalyte 35xx series of motors to estimate my Leaf temperature. It is the closest motor in the drop down menu to the Leaf. The RH212 is pretty close but there is...

Leaf / leafmotor / leafbike high efficiency 1500w motor

I agree the RH212 with the extra pole should produce more torque but it is virtually cancelled out by the narrow stator that is 27mm wide. I think the Leaf is better for everything than any other motor that has a narrower stator and it will compete well with any motor that has a 35mm stator...

Leaf / leafmotor / leafbike high efficiency 1500w motor

I am really curious about the Crystalyte H55 series of motors. Supposedly they are 135mm between drop outs and have a 55mm wide stator. Stealth electric bikes uses the H55 in some of the bikes they currently produce. One will probably be the next motor I buy :).

Oil cooling a motor with transformer oil/dielectric fluid - the next frontier?

Using any fluid to cool a MAC/GMAC is problematic...when I used ATF, the fluid actually leaked when capillary action pulled the ATF inside the insulation on the wires. I was successful using distilled water and a little Motul MoCool as a corrosion inhibitor. Even the water needed "topping off"...

Leaf / leafmotor / leafbike high efficiency 1500w motor

If you have 35E cells in your battery and you have the EM3ev smart BMS, you can safely pull 8A per "p" string but your battery just won't last nearly as long as it would if you pulled 4A per "p". If you have a 14s5p battery with 35E cells, the run below shows you can only get about 35 mph with...

Leaf / leafmotor / leafbike high efficiency 1500w motor

For any ebike build, you need to match the motor, battery, and controller to the application. The battery has two separate components that can be limiting factors...the cells and the BMS. Although the Leaf motor will do it without over heating if you run Statorade, there are better choices for...

Leaf / leafmotor / leafbike high efficiency 1500w motor

I am currently running a 7 speed freewheel on my Leaf motor but I usually leave it on the 22T cog so I can pedal if the motor needs a little help on a steep incline.

Some Questions About 18650 Cells and Designing A Battery

In a series circuit amperage is constant. In parallel circuits amperage is additive. Voltage is the opposite of amperage i.e. additive in a series circuit and constant for parallel circuits.

Chalo...why/what is superior about the freewheel axle version? Thanks MAC told me the freewheel version of their motor is stronger "if" you plan to pedal a lot but I don't remember why...perhaps less flexing of the side cover but I can't remember for sure. Freewheels are so simple, easy, and...

    Building Electric Moped. Battery Questions

If you go with a 48v battery, you are going to have two problems...1. You are going to pull too much amperage per cell and your battery will not last very long and 2. You are going to melt something because your amperage is going to be VERY high if you want to go 50 mph. I'd recommend going a...

5000w Hub Motor Phase Wire Quick Disconnect System Ideas

I am facing a similar situation although at a slightly lower amperage...I have ring connectors on my motor phase wires and female 4mm banana/bullet connectors on my controller. Anybody know of an adapter that I can use to connect the ring terminals to the 4mm banana/bullet connectors? I saw...

I want to find an adapter or wire with the correct connectors to connect my ring terminal phase wires on my Leaf motor to the 4mm female bullet connectors on my controller. Has anybody seen or know where I can find such an adapter or wire...with ring terminals on one end and 4mm male bullet...

Is the Leaf Bike 30mm wide stator motor the most underrated motor in the world of ebikes?

The 42mm stator is only available in the 170/190mm OLD motor..."OLD" is over locknut dimenstion. I would highly recomend the 35mm motor if you have 135mm dropouts. It can handle a lot more abuse without overheating than the 30mm motor.

Leaf / leafmotor / leafbike high efficiency 1500w motor

Neptronix gave some good advice above but even if you don't need the power the Leaf can deliver, I'd still go with it before I would go with a motor that has a narrower stator because the Leaf will be less likely to over heat. I tried one of the 30mm stator motors via Amazon and it worked OK...

Leaf / leafmotor / leafbike high efficiency 1500w motor

A MAC would not be a good idea at slow speeds, even the 12T MAC will over heat...been there done that. For 5 mph, the only motor I know of that might work is the wheelbarrow motor from Grin Tech.

Leaf / leafmotor / leafbike high efficiency 1500w motor

Depends on which "snow" motor...if it is 135mm or 137mm OLD then the stator is 35mm wide. The snow motor that is 170/190mm wide has the 42mm stator I believe...but don't take my word for it. I am sure about the 135/137 motor's stator but I am going on memory for the 170/190 motor.
