    Seoul Cycle Design Competition winner....

Winner has been announced for the Seoul Cycle Design Competition, which closed for entries back in July. I had considered throwing something together for this, but had found about it too late in the game. http://www.designboom.com/contest/winner.php?contest_pk=33 I'm almost glad I didn't, as...

    Thud-style, single stage, two-speed gearbox....

Another concept design. This one uses an outrunner (or even an in-runner) with an extended shaft out the back end - so that sprockets can be run off of both sides of the motor. By doing it this way, one can eliminate the need for a second-stage gear reduction (eliminating a shaft, two bearing...

Three-speed sequential gear box (based on Thud's design)

Been trying to figure out how to do this. thud's design is very inspiring, so I thought I'd give a whack at a three speed version. I'm guessing the toughest part would be to figure out the gearing ratios that will result in chain lengths that don't have a lot of slack in them........ I've...

    multi-motor controller/esc solutions

So, has anybody begun development of a controller/esc solution for running multiple RC motors? I know absolutly nothing about the engineering aspects of a project like this. However, wouldn't it be possible to design a "master" module that will handle all of the input from the throttle and...

A posible way to build complex fairings/body panels

Saw this on gizmodo and thought this might be an easy way to build a fiberglass form for complex fairings or body panels (except with the clips on the inside).... http://gizmodo.com/5625457/what-are-all-these-binder-clips-holding-together

"Free to Caster (FTC) leaning reverse trike

This was posted on the Reverse Trike yahoo group. It's an ICE trike, but very well done. He's using a system he's calling "Free to Caster" where apparently the steering is only changing the tilt of the bike, and the wheels turn as required. Very interesting concept...

    I'm a genius....

.... Just not a very fast one...... I was just thinking about this the other day - doing some more brainstorming for a small, car sized reverse electric trike. I had noticed that a lot of the tadpole trikes had negativly cambered front wheels, and was thinking to myself "why don't we...

    disc brake conundrum

OK.... I'm finally putting together my Schwinn Spoiler. Gonna be using a front, 5304 (one of the newer ones with the disc rotor mount from ebikes.ca). Because this bike uses springer forks, the original wheel had the disc mounted on the right side so that the cable would point back towards the...

    Carbon Fiber for Leaf springs?

For those of you familiar with Carbon Fiber: Do you think that using rigid CF strips as leaf springs for suspension would be a viable option? Will all the constant bending and vibrations cause it to ultimately fail (degrade/crack/shatter)? An example of what I'm talking about......

Two speed 'gearbox' (now up to four speeds!)

Wasn't sure where to put this, so figured this section was a safe bet. I was sitting this morning - having a cup of coffee - and trying to think of a way to set up a two-speed gearing mechanism. This is what I came up with - not sure if it's viable - comments would be very welcome! So...

    Honda 3-wheel EV concept: 3R-C

Looks a bit top-heavy, but the front wheels are definitely wide enough. I like the fact that you've got good visibility, and the 'cabin' can be closed when not in use to protect it from the elements. It's kinda growing on me...
