How much money have you burned?

How much magic smoke from parts have you released or otherwise destroyed in the making of your e-bike? Include motors and controllers burned out, welders welded to themselves, visits to the ER, frames bent in half, wheels tacoed, holes punched in walls, grandma's washing machine all scratched...

Cycle Analyst controlling a 0-5K Magura throttle?

Hiya - I just bought a Cycle Analyst and will be using it on my moped conversion. I was very interested in the current limiting / speed limiting / low-voltage detecting aspect of the C-A, but it looks like that it was designed mainly for a Hall-type throttle. Can anyone help me figure out...

    Charging RC NiMH battery packs?

My Phoenix ESC arrived and my Boxer moped is up and running! I'm using as its main battery supply a four pack of 9.6V 3.8 Ah NiMH batteries that are designed for RC car usage. What connector do you use for main power line?

What are people using to connect their batteries to their motor controller? I'm leaning towards either getting the Anderson PowerPole or the SB connectors, but the Dean's are less expensive and I don't know if I'll be pulling more than 50A. Anyway, let's see what the most popular is! Add a...

How do you varnish motor windings?

So I bought the HXT outrunner motor that Scott's been talking about..... it arrived in stellar time, now I'm just waiting for the ESC and servo tester. I noticed the windings weren't varnished.... they look like bare copper. Should I varnish them? If so, with what? Just old varnish that I get...
