    Cyclone 1200W commuter build

If you're not noticing any weird vibrations and you have that many miles on it then I say leave it be. That looks like my gearbox when it was brand new. The gear lube didn't seem to make it any better in my case and you end up having to seal lots of little holes you didn't know were there :)

    Cyclone 1200W commuter build

I think that is likely the case. Like you say, Headline doesn't rate this motor/gearbox combo anywhere near what Cyclone is advertising it at. Some of my full-throttle starts were pulling around 3KW which is a bit more than 360W :) You should be fine with your setup, even all-out, I imagine...

Need help with CA throttle override

Not sure of the official name, but I've always seen them referred to as "Crystalyte connectors". I got a bag of them from ebikes.ca (search for "conbag"), but they only include 3-6 pin connectors in the bag. Since only 6 pins appear to be used on the throttle connector you could replace it...

    Cyclone 1200W commuter build

paco was very responsive with sending me a replacement gearbox the first time for the price of shipping from TW, though I haven't emailed him since this one's gone south. I may pay for this second replacement rather than go the warranty route since the failure could be my fault. If I'm lucky...

    Cyclone 1200W commuter build

That Dow stuff sounds interesting. I replaced the stock lube with this stuff and the gears lasted half as long. Go figure, maybe Headline already has some kind of super lube in there.

    Cyclone 1200W commuter build

I'll try to find some time this weekend to pull it apart and check that out. It really didn't look worn to me last time I checked, but I don't have a 'before' picture for comparison.

    Cyclone 1200W commuter build

That is probably what I should have done from the start. Unfortunately I've almost killed the second set of gears already so I'll have to see if paco will send parts. On second thought, given that this set lasted about half as long as the first, I think there's a strong possibility the pinion...

    Cyclone 1200W commuter build

Heard back from rushgears... hoo boy... They apparently charge $1000 minimum for a run so 1 gear is $1000, 10 are $100 each, etc. Unless there are enough of you guys out there that want gears to add up to at least 100 pieces I guess I'll need to look elsewhere...

    Cyclone 1200W commuter build

Please take my experience with a grain of salt. It's possible I caused the whole problem by contaminating the gearbox with RTV, but I don't know for sure. There are lots of other folks on here running this same kit with no troubles whatsoever. In any case, I have an RFQ in to rushgears.com to...

You need to get a video camera in that friend's hand. We need to see some tire smoke!

    Downtube-Cyclone 1200 Build

Way to go, dude! That little folder is probably a bit of a thrill ride with all that power  It's fun to do at full power, but the driveline will not last long. This was the result the last time I shifted at full power and the gear didn't catch right away: I agree with Norman...

    48v ~ 99volts, green time controller 4110

wow, I imagine you will have no trouble with those. Very solid. It looks like the weight is competitive with a regular spoked wheel too. If that doesn't solve your problem, I don't know what will.

High power RC motor and drive unit production

The V3s can supply a continuous 3C (60A) and the BMS won't cut off until 90A. I think that will be about right for spinning a 6t 3210 motor. Running it at 500 rpm will most likely just turn it into a little pop-can-sized heater, though, so a reduction is pretty much required. I hope that...

    Direct-drive 3220 setup with a 3-Speed Hub...

Looks pretty cool, nice job, very tidy! Glad to see someone else using those freakin huge 75A Andersons, I don't feel so weird now :D I too am looking forward to the sensored 3210s when Bob gets around to making some. What is the max current draw for one of those things? I'm hoping my v3...

    Downtube-Cyclone 1200 Build

Looking good so far, keep us posted! I wonder if you wouldn't be better served by a thumb throttle, though. You can get them from ebikes.ca for about US$15 + shipping. I haven't wired mine up yet (it appears to be set up for left-handed operation and that's not really what I want) but it...

My new Kmx 1200w cyclone :)

60Kph is pretty close to the max speed I can get on a flat road without tucking (regardless of gearing) so you should definitely be able to go faster with that little trike. How's that new bearing holding up?

Nice work with the stand. It is strange you're having so much trouble with spokes. How are the roads over there?

    Cyclone 1200W commuter build

HA! I jinxed myself by even mentioning it; the motor cut out on the way back from lunch. Hopefully it just overheated and not something more serious. I was almost at my destination when it happened so I didn't wait around for it to come back on. It might be kinda cool to rig up a temp gauge...

    Cyclone 1200W commuter build

Been a while since I updated. It's good to hear from you other cyclone users, keep us all in the loop on how your kits are running. I put it all back together with only gear lube but without RTV or any type of gasket to seal the case and predictably it leaked. Some old-school paper gasket...

This sounds like it would be an awesome drop-in replacement for those giant headline/cyclone controllers... rated for twice the Amps with the same number of FETs and a quarter (or less!) of the size. This wouldn't happen to be the fancy controller Justin's been working on, would it? :wink...

PING OR ECITY that's the question !

My 48V ping pack shows around 54-55V after the surface charge has drained off. It's closer to 60-61V hot off the charger, though.
