    CA max voltage.

I am at 100V no load with a 2.0 version CA. I've experienced no problems at this voltage. In the spec sheet they say it's range is 15-100V.

    Headway charging question.

I would use the ebikekit charger myself. The max charging spec on Headways is 3.65 +or- .05. The chargers probably are adjustable so you can tweak them right where you want them.

    Headway life cycle

So far the max current I've pulled from the pack is 38A. I had about a 4 volt drop at this load (3.8C).

Best time on 1/4 mile with an X5 hub motor (your opinions ?)

I can't wait to hear how you do. I'd be very impressed if you pulled off 14's. I'm mostly interested in the top speed though. I'm all for the max speed and efficiency aspect of ebikes.

    Headway life cycle

I'd like to know the same information. I'm only on my third cycle on a 29s2p 38120S pack. I'm just breaking them in now. Right now I'm charging them all at about 1.5A manually until I get the BMS working. I've been discharging to around 2AH per cycle. I'm limiting the current with a CA to 20...

Best time on 1/4 mile with an X5 hub motor (your opinions ?)

I predict around 17's with the largest factor being top speed. What's the expected max speed?

    Where to buy good wire

I bought some 10 gauge fine stranded silicon wires from here: http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/products.php?cat=Wire+%26+Connectors+%26+Shrink+Wrap They also have 12 gauge. Really good stuff. Extremely flexible.

Better rear rack for full suspension bike suggestions

I have that Axiom Odyssee rack and love it. Its very strong. I did a test with using my own weight (155 lbs.) and it felt very solid. If you have a rear hub motor then you have to make your own adapters. The one's that come with it are for standard axles. I have my 29s2p Headway pack and...

LiFePO4 Car Battery replacement Batteries for cranking

As an ASE certified auto tech I can tell you right now that changing your battery will not significantly increase your fuel mileage at all. I would also be concerned about overcharging these batteries. Most alternators these days put out over 100 amps. @ BiGH Your belt driven idea isn't as...

    Dealing with Kennedy Alternative Energy

I'm wondering how other peoples experiences have been with this company. I bought 58 headway cells, intercell connectors, a BMS, and a charger from them. The batteries and the charger work fine but the BMS isn't working. So I emailed them about my problem and they just ignore me. I gave them...

Can't get BMS alarm to stop going off

Hey guys. I got the chargers and got all the cells topped off but it still goes off! Any other ideas? All I want to be able to do is balance out the pack with the BMS.

Can't get BMS alarm to stop going off

Thanks for the tip. I just bought a couple of them. I figure I might as well balance them all out. I plan on using my BMS as a balancer only as well. Not only is the thing huge but it's also to delicate for the environment it will be in. The thing cost way to much for that.

Can't get BMS alarm to stop going off

Looks like I'm going to have to try and charge them all individually. How does this charger look for that: http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=5548&Product_Name=IMAX_B6_Charger/Discharger_1-6_Cells

Can't get BMS alarm to stop going off

I think you got confused between the two posts. None of my cells are at 3.5V . My highest are at 3.3V . It just finished charging with just the charger so I'm going to try and hook up the BMS to see if it still goes off.

Can't get BMS alarm to stop going off

They are a little low but still above nominal except for A13 (3.15V) which might be my problem. But what I don't get is why I can't charge the battery. I haven't even put a load on the batteries yet. You guys got me thinking and I decided I'm going to first try and charge the pack without the...

Can't get BMS alarm to stop going off

Thanks for your input. I don't know the tolerance on the BMS either but even when I hook up the charger the alarm still goes off and is not charging.

Can't get BMS alarm to stop going off

I made a 29s2p Headway 38120S battery pack. The BMS is a capacitive balance type. Everything is brand new. As soon as I hook everything up the alarm goes off. The pack voltage is at 95.3 . I have included a "schematic " that was given to me in this post. I checked all my connections at the BMS...

I would clean off the contact area with a die grinder, tap the threads and apply a coat of anti seize.

    Cycle Analyst fine tuning

Yes....the current value is based off of the RShunt resistance. It's value is definitely off if it only shows a 15 amp pull at WOT. The controller should be able to put out 30 amps in short bursts. I calibrated my CA with a second inline CA and just fine tuned it 'till they read the same values...

LiFePo4 Batteries: Care and Feeding For Beginners

The 80% rule of thumb is for AH used of the pack (eg. 8 AH of a 10AH pack). BMS's work off of individual cell voltages not the amount of AH used. When the individual cell voltages get to low is when they intervene or warn you that the pack is at the limit.

    Steveo's x5306 build @ 144v (Caution High Voltage thread!)

Awesome build! Cant wait to hear how it turns out. These are the kind of ebikes I'm interested in. High voltage and current. Right now I'm making a 93 volt 100 amp battery to power a 5304 motor.
