Wait...the pack is not meant for you...amd it says "Ypedal" on the blue tape...holy smokes....there can't be two of you.....I think this pack looks FUN as hell..

E-BikeKit rewiew, 36 volt front hub

The rub here is that this is that the "Infineon" controller in this kit that has now been branded perhaps the 800th different way (and yes I do exaggerate)....mine actually has "Nine Continent" with their horribly boring logo printed on the back...the one in the reviewed kit seems a bit less...

    Helmet Camera, or Onboard Camera

Late last week a guy here at work bought: http://www.goprocamera.com/ ....which is one of probably a hundred different helmet-mounted cameras and we were kind of riffing about the idea of just recording each commute...literally....every single day of the week. He rides a Yamaha FZ1...I...

Someone posted a link here...to a Headway 48v 10ah rig for $379...I am SURE it is in China and shipping is another 10-20%...but there apparently are some cheap options out there!

Motor kit selected, now battery time

If you're overvolting or going 48v then Ping I think still sells his 48v 10ah batt for $348+70 ship=$414US....obviously the more cells/ah/beefier BMS=more $$ If you're staying at 36v...why not Jason Kraft? http://e-bikekit.com/shop/ He's got both a prismatic and a cell based box.....

Motor kit selected, now battery time

I really doubt you can even build an A123 pack for $450...let alone a Headway which would be $700-$900 easy...depending on your flavor of BMS. You're going to be doing either prismatic LifePo4 ala Ping....or NiMh in your price range. Unless someone here on ES has a used pack....I'm thinking...

E-BikeKit rewiew, 36 volt front hub

Welcome to the 9th continent! It is indeed a torquey little beast even at 22A. The 48v Ping with routinely spin the front tire a bit under full throttle when pulling away from a stop...FUN! That torque arm is better than some I've seen....:) The box & packing seem to be the de facto...

Ultra Motor A2B - Drive wheel spokes

Yeah....I doubt you're pedaling this beastie....we took a test ride an Best Buy and it's a brick...it is suspended a little so I hopped off a 5" curb...didn't snap spokes....but I'll bet that you could under ANY level of abuse, off-roading etc.

    Beta tests sold as products

As a manufacturer it is very easy to fall into the trap of: 1) I make these 2) I sell these 3) I don't care how they're used ...and then I paint one green, one blue and one black and sell them to Jason and Danny and Morgan respectively and I effectively shift the cost burden of supporting the...

    Lipo...please don't hurt me...

You are a mad freaking genius...you could DC to DC upconvert and tap that voltage on-demand...to be sure you would need a more serious controller and probably a CA to insure that you're never pulling more than 20-22a out of the bat during NORMAL riding....but you could then radically overvolt...

What is the public's mood on ebikes?

I WANT to fly up a hill with an MGD in one hand.....and a Marlboro in the other (even though I don't smoke) and a kitten in a basket with some flowers and muffins....all the while ringing a little bell on the handlebars...while giving serious chase to Greg Freaking Lemond...just because it would...

What is the public's mood on ebikes?

AND.....What I like MOST is that I stopped completely at a red light and then rolled it...a cop was right behind me...he gave me two bursts of the horn...the little electronic glaxon-like sound...and left me alone to go on my way....he KNEW I was just risking ME...and not harming anyone...

What is the public's mood on ebikes?

I hang it on the train every day. People often ask me what it is...why the big front hub...? I explain that it is a "motor" and it is like I'm speaking Greek..."A motor....but...where is the actual MOTOR part??" No guys...the windings...magnets...it's all IN THERE....Christ....didn't they...

    Beta tests sold as products

At the end of the day a company like Nine Continent has the capacity to produce 40,000-45,000 motors per month...which currently...I believe is more than the entire U.S. consumes in a year. I'm not saying that the Chinese should not respect our wishes and wants...but let's be quite...

Pros and Cons, Ping vs. Headway

Dogman, That's really the whole deal....my commute is 19.2 miles on some pretty well-rutted asphalt (Springwater Corridor) and at the bitter end 7 or 8% grade to get my ass up the hill to my house....at best I can do 24-26MPH safely...and I routinely find myself off-throttle a LOT (and I'm not...

Have money in hand Ready to Buy

I'm using the little rubber wheel rim brakes...I smoked through the ones that came with the bike doing speed tests with a 48v SLA array on a rather tight oval running track. I think the ones I have now are just cheap Bell Oval pads which were 2ea. for $4.95 at WalMart. Some people smoke...

Pros and Cons, Ping vs. Headway

Ping has delivered a product for those who don't really want to tinker around with Bring your own Battery or quasi-assembled cells in holders with the BMS also just hanging out there. He's now putting the connectors on the charger and the battery for you...so it is brainless as to which side is...

Have money in hand Ready to Buy

Tremendous advice from the usual suspects....and yeah....at 230 lbs...the least of your worries is the weight of the bike & bats. The big Pinger is what....21 pounds?....the 9c/BMC/Clyte...maybe 12-20 more at worst...the bike maybe 20-25....that's perhaps 60-75 pounds....the rest of what you're...

    9C "whine", vibration-dampening coating?

Yes....I get the noise....at first I thought I had over-torqued the wheel nuts....but after a few rides I realized the thingy just has a resonant frequency that it seems to always hit somewhere around 18MPH on a 700c wheel...I guess I would need a speedo to tell EXACTLY where it is.... It is...
