I just sent what I had. Good luck. It might be tougher going across the border with one.

I had heard something good like that. I paid 8k. Only 14th miles. Seemed like a pretty good deal. Very happy with the car so far. It's range is very different at 25 degrees for than at 35 degrees f. Some thing to do with battery heating. I would probably like the orange and black. It...

Put about 5000 miles on so far. Just decided to move into a more modern EV . Bought an i-Miev.

    Finally bought one

I've put around 2500 miles on the car. The batteries are staying very well balanced. I have one 48 cell Fetcher Goodrum BMS assembled and once a week balance each 48 cell group.

    Meanwell Chargers?

They don't shut off at the desired voltage, but when the battery get to the voltage that the charger puts out, the battery will stop drawing current. You have to have a model that current limits. Then it will constant current charge up to the set voltage. There are higher voltage power...

    Meanwell Chargers?

My new 200v ev charger. 8 - 24v meanwells. The 7 320w don't current limit, they only do hiccup mode. The 200w has current limit and limits the rest. Paid $25 each for the SP-320-24 on eBay.

Design to add electric to ICE car

Perhaps take an EV and add a gas engine. I'm thinking of a Solectria E10. It's a Chevy S10 truck that they have turned the differential facing back and added two electric drive motors. Could replace one electric with a gas.

    "Zephyr" - Finally, the "v4" Fechter/Goodrum/Hecker BMS...

I guess I should ask if anyone is not using the end 8 cell balancing section of their boards, I could use them.:-)

    "Zephyr" - Finally, the "v4" Fechter/Goodrum/Hecker BMS...

I could use 2 boards if the 2 parallel packs had each cell paralleled. But the way the packs are, only the groups are parallel. I suppose I could combine the balance leads so I only need two boards. Something to think about.

    "Zephyr" - Finally, the "v4" Fechter/Goodrum/Hecker BMS...

To clarify, I am not going to use the charger portion of the board. I am only going to use the cell balancing and take to lvc and hvc signals to my own circuits. Lvc will probably just sound a warning and the hvc may shut off the charger, depends on if I get a new charger capable of that or...

Right, I should have mentioned that my car has heat pads in the battery compartments. And the charger is smart enough to not charge until the temp is above a preset level. It has temp sensors on the battery terminals. It has thermostats on the heat pads. They run off the charger mains. I just...

No, I have no plans for cooling. At most, I might put a fan on the openings. The data I've seen, I shouldn't have a heat problem on what I'm drawing.

Just did a capacity test. Started at 4.16v down to 3.53v and got 38.87ah. This lines up with the test data I got for Josh on his pack. He tested his from 4.25v down to 2.7v and got 44.4ah. So I think my pack is close to the rated 45ah. 30ah should get me to work and back if I for some...

Got the two groups I've been driving with ready to turn on their side. Used metal shipping banding to wrap up the top. The one didn't have the original metal band as I reduced the size. Ran the banding through 1" aluminum tube (which I wrapped with electrical tape) and 1/4" rubber to build...

Yes, you can see the black plate in the picture in the back. Been driving for two weeks. Really like this little car. I'm getting 140 MPGe. 280 if you factor the my work is paying for half my charges. :D

Excellent point as well, dnmun. I only top charge at home and it sets over night. Might be best to charge a little higher until I get the BMS.

That is a very good point. With that I mind, I watched the system as it charged tonight. There is a 9ah difference between 4.06v and 4.17v. That's 20% of the pack. FRom what I've heard, the Volt cells have a lot of capacity near the top of the charge. This test supports that. I have some...

Drove to work this morning. 16 miles, 15 AH. Head lights on, normal driving. Never touched the brake, the regen is powerful enough to stop me quick enough. Started at just over 200 volts, ended at about 192 volts. 55mph takes about 1.1ah per mile, maybe a little less. Recover some of that...

I understand, Mitch,I didn't take it badly. I appreciate the input and welcome critiques. I've learned a lot from the discussions. Janzicek is Josh Anzicek. By sheer coincedence he lives 25 miles from me. He came to my house and helped me get my controller reprogrammed. He gave me a huge...

Yeah, the circuitry on the left is the charger cut off. The right is the cell monitoring. I've seen the cell log boards, but I wanted the high end balancing circuits. I didn't know that MiniBMS had boards like that. The thing I don't like about their controller is it doesn't know the...

You are probably right. I think it will be 48s. I didn't see where to purchase on their site. Where did you buy?

Mitch, the 6s and 12s x3p groups are as small as you can go without cutting apart the welded tabs. You could jumper each 3p set between two groups of 12s to get 12a x6p. My intention with the Zypher BMS is to not use the charger circuits, but only the cell HV and LV portion. Then run a...
