    VAWTs suffer from load reversal, once every rev. Fatigue, fatigue, fatigue. Every line of commercial VAWT ever manufactured has had fatal structural failures, but it doesn't keep the uninitiated from reinventing the flat tire.

    And there's the rub with the AD helmets. They react in milliseconds, but for those milliseconds, your eyes are exposed to the light. The jury is still out as to whether frequent use causes eye damage. I've found it's easy to position the MIG gun, and then nod my head to get the helmet to drop...
