For some reason I read "have a terrible track record" so if you read the last post before i deleted it... ya I'm pretty invested I'm a few thousand dollars in, but I'm still in the "waiting for parts phase". This is a pretty amazing resource BTW, I've been mining it for the past hour...

All Wheel Drive, Hybrid Del Sol build

I'm currently building a hybrid out of my 1993 honda del sol with 330k on the OD. I've ordered a pair of these motors form QS http://www.qs-motor.com/product/3000w-8000w-electric-car-hub-motor273-model/ and waiting for them in the mail. Once they arrive I'll machine two hubs that will fit in the...

AC energy storage 4 regen braking?

A small compactor bank could do the same thing. don't quote me on this but most regen controllers should stabilized the volts coming in.

How does one balance a wheel with hub motor?

Truing normally only deals with the vertical axis, its only the left and right displacement, it sounds like the bike shop only worked on truing it. You need to round your wheel, you do that much the same way as truing but with all the spokes (left and right) on a part of the wheel. if the wheel...

Bafang Motor Modifications, removing internal gears?

If you weld the gears to the motor casing then it will run at one one, but im sure that will kill your motor in no time, unless you say at speeds of maybe 4 miles per hour. its not worth your investment. you can probably get a small DD for 60, 70 bucks, motor alone.

    What motor does E-bikes.com use

Ya sorry about that, i mean ebikekits.com Their geared motor seems to be the same dimensions and weight as a mac motor. If it was the same, i was hoping to be able to replace the gears just in case of failure.

wiring 2 24v-12v dc converters to make 48v-12v

ya, thats right.in my mind i was thinking in absolute values, but the real world doesn't work that way. i considered it after wiring speakers together and getting the right impedance, thought it would be great if all electronics worked that way. thanks agian jeremy

wiring 2 24v-12v dc converters to make 48v-12v

just a quick question, could you wire 2 24v-12v dc to dc converters in series to a 48v power supply. in theory it should work, but it just seems too silly to. instead of buying a 48v-12v dc converter i was flirting with the idea of using cheap 24v-12v converters to use with a 200w amp stereo...

    waste of time. don't bother.

I might be new to ebikes, but thats actually really common practice. A lot of companies do it, even big names; it may not seem that logical, but the idea behind it is to increase main stream circulations of the product in question, also to lore first adopters to buy more. I don't know much about...

    under watt controller

I'm pretty sure the problem is with the controller, the wheel spins freely when not plugged in. but when the controller is plugged in it feels like a phase short, and regardless of the batteries being plugged in, the wheels' very hard to turn and jerky. I've open the controller up and their's...
