Sikk fat cruiser + Cyclone 3000W + custom battery box

Pedal assist - yes I did get it working but I'm not happy with it. It seems to be either 'on' or 'off'. No modulation at all. Not sure if maybe I mis-wired it. It just got really cold and icy here so I can't get out and do further testing at the moment. Shift sensor - don't have one. Brake...

Sikk fat cruiser + Cyclone 3000W + custom battery box

I think that might depend. The Sikk 3-speed I got used 1/8" KMC Z chain, so that's what I bought for the motor chain. The 7-speed might use something different.

Any particular Beach Cruiser's that are fantastic for BBSHD?

I'm really happy with my SIKK fat cruiser: https://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=81631 It comes with 4" rims, a 3-speed IGH, a 3-piece crank and disc brakes. It's not all good: the brakes are low-end, the tires are nylon junk and the handlebars are way too big. But for...

I will be on KKFI radio tomorrow talking about E-Bikes

Hey guys, I'm going to be on KKFI's (90.1 FM) Artspeak show tomorrow, August 3, at 12PM CST to discuss electric bikes. I met the host of the show at the Kansas City Maker Faire last month and she really liked my projects, then she invited me to be on her show. I'll be talking about how I got...

Sikk fat cruiser + Cyclone 3000W + custom battery box

BMS is fine. Seems to work as advertised. It has LEDs to let you know when each cell hits 4.2V, so that's nice. I haven't tried LVC; I never plan to take these cells below 3.5V so hopefully I'll never need it. For me, the hardest part was soldering the main wires. But I'm getting better...

Sikk fat cruiser + Cyclone 3000W + custom battery box

Thanks guys. AussieRider, that's an interesting idea about the silicone. I'll give it a try on some test pieces and report back on how it goes.

Sikk fat cruiser + Cyclone 3000W + custom battery box

Hey Guys, Been a while since my last post but I still lurk almost every day and I'm still building bikes. I'd like to share my latest project: The bike is a Sikk fat cruiser - an oversized 3-speed internal fat tire beach cruiser made out of steel. I chose this bike as a donor for a few...

ELF: upgrade motor and controller for more power.

We met someone who recently purchased an ELF trike: His goal is to use it as his primary vehicle for an eco-friendly handyman business. To do this, he will need to haul a trailer loaded with his equipment in and around downtown Kansas City at 20-25 mph. The total vehicle weight is 800 lbs...

    Kona Stab, 8T Mac, 20S A123 20AH

My 20s pack is around 60V under load, with a 45A controller it will produce a maximum of about 2700W. But I only see that briefly during acceleration and going up steep hills. I like to cruise at about 30 mph which, on the roads around here, uses about 800-1200W. I did get the upgraded motor...

    Kona Stab, 8T Mac, 20S A123 20AH

Hey, I'll answer your questions as best I can: 1. Yes, the fork-mounted battery does affect the steering. To me it feels sluggish and I need to put more effort into making a turn. Also, the 1-1/4" mounting brackets reduce the amount the front wheel can rotate, so I can't make as tight of a...

how many a123 20ah will fit in a PELICASE 1300

I tried to fit 20s a123 20ah into Storm im2075 case (similar to the 1300, but a little bigger) but was unsuccessful. http://www.pelican-case.com/im2075.html The problem is, the case tapers slightly from the mouth of the to the base, meaning the dimensions at the back are smaller than the...

    Kona Stab, 8T Mac, 20S A123 20AH

HI Tommy, thanks and happy birthday! I really like the Mac a lot. Quite a bit of torque for such a small package. I don't think it's loud at all. It's just a tiny bit louder than my friend's DD, but not much. In fact, most people who've tried my bike have commented how quiet it is. I think...

    Possible good ebike frame

I looked at that Phat bike for a long time as a candidate for conversion and almost pulled the trigger. I think it's one of the best looking inexpensive cruiser bikes on the market right now. In the end, though, I decided to pass. The lack of braking options was the deal breaker for me. They...

    First Build - Ladies Special

I told my lady that I wanted to build an e-bike and the first thing she said was, "sounds good, where's my e-bike?" So I thought, cool, instead of one bike I'll build two! I'd start with hers, make it a low powered system and learn as I go. Plus, the donor bike was already sitting in my...

Need help sizing an electric lawn mower motor/battery pack

I picked up a 24V cordless mower off of Craigslist and upgraded it to Headway LiFePO4. Build thread is here: http://www.endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=31354 I increased the size of the battery from stock (15ah to 20ah) and I've been very happy with the performance so far. I...

24V electric lawnmower upgraded to LiFePO4

Thanks, guys. This power electronics stuff is fascinating to me, I'm really getting into it. I'll definitely try to think of something else to do with the pack for winter. Auraslip, I appreciate the tip about motor temp. Will keep an eye on that.

24V electric lawnmower upgraded to LiFePO4

Recently I upgraded a 24V cordless electric lawnmower to LiFePO4 for better power and increased range. I found the mower on craigslist for $30. The reason it was so cheap was the seller couldn't find the 'key', which was really just a 40A DC circuit breaker that plugs into the front panel...

Noob needs help with Headway 24V20ah pack

I have attempted to follow the traces on the pcb board as indicated. I removed the board from the case and examined it from the front and the back. For the horizontal pot, it is connected to the Sensor on one end and to pin 2 of the op amp on the other. The op amp is a Hitachi HA17358. The...

Noob needs help with Headway 24V20ah pack

Thank you for the information. I followed your instructions and read the current coming out of the charger to be 0.10A. At this point, the LED was red and the fan was blowing. I then returned the pots to their original position (I did keep track of how many turns and in which direction I...
