upgrading from 6v to 12v battery on kids ride on

Hi guys, it's been a while, I'm looking to upgrade the battery on my little girls ride on car, it's 6v and it's gutless. I'm wondering if I can just throw another 6v battery in there and get a 12v charger but want to check first, there is room for a second 6v battery so I was hoping they would...

my soapbox build, in need of some advice

Thanks for the kind words everyone, there was a lot of work go into making it look good, I am a cabinetmaker so I love working with wood, as gravity is the only power camber would cause more friction so I went for none, bmx wheels are a good, cheap lightweight option, the kart doesn't have to be...

my soapbox build, in need of some advice

Thank you for the replys, I like those cart hubs, they look like they could be easily fabricated so I can make them wider to help make them more stable, lacing wheels isn't a problem, and in the mean time I will keep an eye out for some motorbike wheels, there is a motorbike breakers near me so...

my soapbox build, in need of some advice

Hey everyone, I've been racking my brains but I can't figure out a good solution to my problem, I've made a wooden soapbox which has 20" bmx wheels which I used in the local soapbox derby, We had two runs down the course which had a slalom then a ramp, Last year's ramp was 4" tall which was...

electric moped insurance in the UK

I have told them of my no claims, 1 year on a bike and 9+ in a car, it was more than double my petrol moped and wanted to see what others had done before just paying,

electric moped insurance in the UK

https://www.gov.uk/electric-bike-rules UK laws on electric bikes. I'm after people's recommendations for good electric moped insurers in the UK, the people who insured my 50cc moped (swinton bikes) were very expensive,

electric moped insurance in the UK

Hi everyone, after playing about with my electric bicycle for a number of years I decided to get a a electric moped, I was in need of a new battery for more speed anyway and a moped wasn't much more than a new lithium battery so I have a 2000 w lithium moped sitting in my garage, trouble is the...

help me build my second e-bike

If I can get to 30mph on 48v I would prefer it to 72v, I think 72v is a lot of battery, I am thinking in the long run when I need to replace them it will get expensive about 30mph would be ok, like you say dogman I'll get noticed at more than 30mph and trying to hide a 75v 15ah battery would be...

help me build my second e-bike

I was thinking a 48v battery was next on my list, just wanted to get a long thin one from somewhere so when I build a frame it will fit nicely into the bottom tube. I will get some square steel tube, easier to cut all the angles, I only see 20mph on the flats at the minute so I guess I'll get...

help me build my second e-bike

Sounds like your motor/battery combo would be perfect for me! I thought I would have to have a 48v 15ah battery to go that far, how long have you been using your bike? Not had any problems?

help me build my second e-bike

Hello everyone, I have been e-biking for two years now on my cheaply made e-bike and enjoyed every minute of it, but after nearly 2000 miles it is time for an upgrade, my bike at the minute has a 750 watt motor 22 amp controller off eBay and a very heavy 36v 20ah SLA battery which gives me a top...

    Schwalbe Big Apple 26"

Right, I do not like these tyres, I have now fell off twice since I have had them, before that I done well over 1500 miles over 4 months in the wet, wind and mud on my last set of tyres with no problem, not even a wobble, now I have fallen off twice in the last two weeks, on the first day I put...

    Schwalbe Big Apple 26"

Just put my big apple 2.35 tires on and they look great! I'll see how they compare to my narrower tires, what mudguards should I use with the tires being so wide, am I right in thinking that the water will move towards the center of the tire before flying off so it doesn't matter if the...

What is causing my creaking clicking spokes. Can I fix?

I had the same problem, I took the tire off and tightened all the spokes and that fixed the problem but it comes back every 100ish miles, so I just do it again,

    Schwalbe Big Apple 26"

I am wanting to fit some 2.35 big apples to my bike, someone I work with said make sure they fit the rim because they are really wide, will they fit my standard rim properly? The outside of the rim is just over 1'' wide (27mm) so without taking the tyre off I guess the inside is about 22mm, also...

How did you know the controller was 22 amps? And what are the fets in the controller? Thanks knoxie I'm happy with my bike, I have done over 120 miles in the last week of sunshine here and loving every minute of it! I am getting rid of one of our cars now my bike is working so I am saving £6.30...

    help with more speed

I have took the lid off the controller and the big caps are rated at 63V so if I got a 48v LiFePo4 battery it would be around 57.6V off the charger (16 x 3.6V) and would not fry anything and LiFePo4 sounds a little more noob friendly than lipo, does all this sound right? All the big caps are...

Cheers guys, I have lots to think about now, yes I am in England, Norfolk, I will be using it on the smaller back roads where I don't see any cars all the way to work, its not too bad at the minute having the batteries high up but this is only my first go at building a electric bike, just trying...

That was going to be the next battery I got, a 48v lithium battery, I'm sure the slas's are holding me back but I will stick with them until they die now that I have them, I was just wondering if there was anything I could do until I get a better and bigger battery.
