Traction Kite, Flywheel, and the Anchor

This is not exactly the idea for an electric watercraft, it is mostly wind and wave powered. This would be like a catamaran or a sail boat. (The little U joints are on the flywheel because it is a gyro. Wave energy is not captured there. It is captured by reeling.) I want to use the traction...

    Portable Hydro Generator

I guess to be more realistic I have to build around an alternator designed for wind turbines. They use neodymium magnets. They still aren't light though, 25lbs. The things are expensive, too; $700-800. The weight starts to add up, but is justifiable. The trailer will need suspension and breaks...

Travelon 75w inverter for AC power

I consider making battery packs for homeless people, because I have been homeless. To make the pack more user friendly, I think this will come in handy. Throw in a heating pad and a hammock and you can camp all winter. http://www.amazon.com/Travelon-Slim-Line-Universal-Travel-Inverter/dp/B001CZL1HI

    Portable Hydro Generator

Check it out. Kayak, outrigger, vertical axis turbine, and an electric kayak trailer. The outrigger could be a counterbalance and the generator can hang off the opposite side... Who's coming with me?

    Portable Hydro Generator

These guys have 12" rotors. They peak at 100w. I don't know a lot about generation, but is potential eaten up by the mass of the rotor, axle, bearings, magnets, etc? http://www.absak.com/library/hydro-power

    Portable Hydro Generator

I've only seen a couple portable hydro generation projects. One on youtube, one on Red Neck Rocket Science. I think it is the most viable option for generating energy while on the road. I want to use a brushless out runner for an RC boat with water cooling. I will make a cone mesh CVT (and...

It is as safe as skateboarding.

You were right John, that thing needed simplifying.

Wing in Wheel, Downwind faster than wind

John, the balloons are awesome. I like the balloons that fit the turbine inside, but they might be hard to make at home. I was thinking, just make a balloon and hang the turbine beneath it by some string. This image is a replication from a paper I read, I will find it. Remind me to make...

Wing in Wheel, Downwind faster than wind

http://warlock.com.au/tools/bladecalc.htm This is a good tool for calculating the power a turbine can produce with optimal conditions. I am looking for a paper that I found that explains the calculus in lay-persons' terms, it was very good. It is true that we would see better results with the...

    PLANS: Two CVTs and Kern

Can I have this moved to Electric Water Craft? Its good for kayaks. You can build a lot of speed if you are only putting out energy when you are going down wave.

http://www.wired.com/autopia/2013/01/ff-paul-larsen-sailrocket/all/ How a Boat-Plane Hybrid Shattered the Sound Barrier of Sailing Wired Mag is badass. I don't work for or anything, sorry for spamin ya with their links haha. This sail boat is badass though.

I'm surprised I don't see any of these around. The coverage is 2 years old.

Just in case anyone need a test pilot.

Wing in Wheel, Downwind faster than wind

That's a fine turbine. Newspaper has a low coefficient of friction and is cheep. In a stiff wind I'd say its good for a couple hundred watts.

    Generator Trailer

    Carry a wind turbine instead.

Wing in Wheel, Downwind faster than wind

You guys don't even want to know stuff like, traditional turbines with a horizontal axis are lighter for the power than the turbines with vertical axis.

Car Goes Downwind 2.5 Times Faster Than the Wind

This was in Wired Mag. http://www.wired.com/autopia/2010/06/downwind-faster-than-the-wind/ There is video. Seems like it would be possible to do on a bike, maybe carbon fiber?

Wing in Wheel, Downwind faster than wind

Does this elitism attract manufacturers? I don't see a lot of you with aerodynamic lipo, or carbon fiber.

I have to say that I am disappointed in the response to my idea.
