Question about watts Currie eZip *Resolved*

I just want to do a follow up to my situation. I recently made the mistake of bending my rear rim beyond repair. I do use my bike as a daily commuter and am still just a noob. I chose to stick with Currie products until I really understand all this. So I purchased the whole dyi kit from...

    Fat noob wants advice.

I am 350lbs 5'8" I have used a Currie 250w side mounted motor for over 4 months for a short commute. I have been using my days off to exercise by using pedal assist to go farther. I have 24v 10ah and can only go just shy of 8 miles. My range has increased month by month. I average 15mph except...

Question about watts Currie eZip *Resolved*

I wonder how complicated it would be to re-use the battery shell with something more respectable? I only travel in a 5 miles radius. I don't have the patience to charge for 4-6 hours anywhere other than home. Since there is the Railrunner I am tempted to venture further for just a day away from...

Question about watts Currie eZip *Resolved*

Thanks again everyone for the answers. Yes the desert might be a huge contributing factor. No I don't want magic smoke. Damn I was hoping for a cheap fix. After I posted I did a little tune up cleaned up the rear end a little realigned everything and got a little improvement from that. I have...

Question about watts Currie eZip *Resolved*

Thanks for the in depth answer that was what I was thinking but have no basis to believe it. Now that you say from your experience 200w difference is significant I will order it and install. What I am hoping for the most is it to quit shutting off. I believe it is an overheating protection but...

Question about watts Currie eZip *Resolved*

Thanks for the replies. I guess my answer is not really worth it. I have to say I am constantly reading on this forum and getting more ideas but more unsure on what would work best for me.

Question about watts Currie eZip *Resolved*

I currently have a 24v 250w Currie Skyline. I was looking for a replacement mounting bracket at thesuperkids online store and seen a 24v 450w replacement with the mounting bracket. It appears the wiring harness is the same so I am tempted to just go this route. My question is how much difference...

I am sorta in the same boat as you. 300+ and crave 25mph+ and the pulling power to climb a grade. I was looking at you links and noticed your motor selection is not freewheel. Do you plan on turning the motor when peddling only? The things I am looking at are GNG or Cyclone paired up with...

New to E-Bike technology advice needed.

Think I will just save up and build a custom bike. But I wanted to ask I am thinking about buying http://www.thesuperkids.com/eztrelbi450w.html I need a new mount as mine was dropped and bent. But I see this is 450w and mine now is 250w would this improve the performance at all?

Nevermind I see the way the freewheel sprocket is mounted there is no way for me to mount that on a Nuvinci

I am also thinking about maybe a Nuvinci N360. This might just be a simple option. Any input?

http://www.gngebike.com/new250wbrushed.htm How about using the Currie set up but a mid drive motor configuration to use my existing gears to compensate?

I don't think there is anything wrong with the bike I think I just over work it. I am heavy set and I exceed the recommended weight significantly.

Ok BMS? and too weak. Now the battery has always lasted 15 miles and still does. Do you think a battery upgrade would be a solution? http://i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa49/neiltoe/2012-08-21_12-31-28_580.jpg http://i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa49/neiltoe/2012-08-21_12-32-39_912.jpg

Thanks for the advice again. I am spending more time reading and learning. I really would like to improve my current bike. The only thing that I really dislike about my bike is that it won't climb a mild grade without resetting. I have to stop and turn it off and on again. This does get...

Thank you again for the solid advice. I just wanna spew some random thoughts out here as having this eBike has changed a lot of my thinking. Does anyone have any resources for maybe using farad capacitors and a gearing system for direct drive eBikes? I was thinking about when I used to play...

Thank you for the response and the positive advice. I was hoping that the Power assist mode was better than it is but do try to increase my peddling more progressively. As for speed comfort I am fine I was a daily motorcycle rider for a decade. Got to love the weather in New Mexico.

Well said and point taken I might just have to accept it for what it is. I was just hopeful that I could find a simple swap. I actually love the bike for what it is just want a little less attention when people see it. I don't know if I don't like explaining the whole system to everyone or I am...

New to E-Bike technology advice needed.

I actually am happy with the speeds I achieve. The grades are minimal but do tax the motor to cut off at least one time on the way home. I do not have any issues with peddling and I am hoping to see results because of it. I just was hoping to find a hub motor to replace the frame mounted motor...
